Cops continuing to not uphold the laws theyre sworn to protect. Typical I guess. Those agencies refusing to uphold these laws should have funds cut off instantly.

Cops continuing to follow the law. Color me shocked.

This is not surprising. Texas entire culture revolves around big hats, giant belt buckles, boots, and a battle that they lost.

Tbh as long as the big cities cooperate, it's probably fine.

Edit: also a lot of the police are saying it's simply unfeasible to enforce the law due to the first time warning, and being unable to arrest people for it. Which makes sense tbh.

yeah but what kind of message does it send to the public when agencies publicly state that theyre going to refuse to enforce the order?

Same message many parts of America are sending about their orders from on high.

This disobey trend hasn't started recently, but I guess this one isn't a "YASSS SLAY KWEEN." moment.

That the governor should revise the order. It's difficult to enforce an order that prohibits detention as a means of enforcement when:

This language included in the Governors order would subject our agency, and Montgomery County as a whole, to civil liability for even speaking to a person about this order, as that could be construed or misconstrued as a detention. Additionally, holding someone for the purpose of issuing a citation related to a fine is a legally defined detention under current Texas Law.

With the additional requirement that they apparently need to track first time mask offenses and only issue fines on the second offense. It seems that the governor intentionally made this unenforceable imo, and this is mostly a symbolic move to try to get people to wear masks.

Let this be a reminder that they ARE personally responsible for every life they ruin and every family they tear apart when they enforce an unjust law. They have full discretion to decide whether they agree with the law, and by enforcing it they are agreeing with it and legitimizing it and directly imposing the injustice the laws contemplate.

I guess if I dont agree with a law I can just ignore it and tell the police that I dont agree with it so they cant arrest me.

oh wait.

But I heard the police are just doing their jobs enforcing the laws and don't decide what's right and wrong.

Public safety during a global pandemic is apparently a bridge too far morally though
