A plate on each side is respectable, that's 135lbs, obviously repping out 225lbs(2 plates on each side) is far more impressive, and repping 315 is even more impressive, but 1 plate on each side is nothing to be ashamed of.

Don't be ashamed of using the smaller weights too, most places have 2.5lb to 45lb weights. Even if you only add 5 pounds per week you'll get to 225 in less than 6 months.

Yup as others have said it's nothing to be ashamed of. You have to start somewhere and at least you're exercising. You'll get better if you stick with it too.

Well I'm just assuming this individual is average height and slightly overweight, we're talking 5'8 200lbs, if 135lbs is his max that means he would only be able to do like 3 push ups max.
