...actually improves overall performance?

I've been considering doing this, but I'm wondering about heat generation.

I believe so since the integrated would be holding back your maximum performance since everything scales to the lowest performance.... thing

i doubt it.

your games that need the GPU performance use it.

seems like it would be more efficient

I'm not sure it increases performance per se but if you're plugged in and know you're gonna be playing games it's probably a good idea

It can't "Improve" overall performance because when you need max performance is gaming usually, and you already have a dedicated GPU.

All you're doing by disabling the iGPU is consuming more power when doing everyday tasks such as surfing the web and using Office Style apps.

You don't need your 2080 for Excel SpreadSheets or Word Processing.

All you're doing is consuming more power at that point while doing the same thing.

My friend had a dedicated GPU on his laptop and for the longest part the fuckin' thing was getting ignored in favor of his integrated graphics. He had to fiddle with it to get the GPU to work

No, because you can't disable the integrated graphics 99% of the time on these laptops. The integrated GPU controls the display and outputs. The dedicated GPU isn't wired to anything except the integrated GPU and is just a slave for rendering and compute.

Use Graphics Settings in Windows to pick which GPU your application runs on.

Yeah, if you have a Nvidia card just go into the control panel and force it to use the Nvidia card for games. I notice every now and then there's a weird game that uses the iGPU for some reason instead of the Nvidia card by default.

Sekiro did this at launch and I was so confused.

I set everything to max like I always do (RTX 2080, gotta go fast) and it ran at like 2 fps.

I was like WHAT
