Not because they're good or anything. More because they seem to cop all of the hate while I think rival companies like 2K, Activision and WB Games are worse.

EA deserve a lot of criticism but they do at least try. Sometimes. Stuff like EA Originals are a good idea. EA/Origin Access is a pretty good service. Sometimes they do come out with great stuff.

A good example of typical EA greed is Madden. There's only a free next gen version if you bought the game before March 2021. People complained so they extended it to all year. It's lame and typical EA bullshit.

But then 2K come out with NBA where you need to be a $99 version in order to get the next gen version for 'free' otherwise you need to pay $69 for a next gen copy. 2K isn't going to change shit about it because they know it will sell. Suddenly EA isn't all that bad.

That to me is EA in a nut shell. They do suck but others suck way more while EA cops the hate for everyone else.

I think the better example to use would be what they and DICE did with Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Game was hyped to be better then its direct predecessor. SWBF was fun for a while but got very stale, very quick. Game came out. It had outrageous flaws that people weren't afraid to point out. Massive community outrage. Most downvoted comment in history goes to that EA PR employee. So they revamped everything, tweaked mechanics, got rid of loot boxes. Then pumped out tons of content. Made the game cheaper, and even made a collection bundle that has all the DLC for just a little bit more money, all less than what you paid for at launch.

The funny thing about EA disasters is that the games generally go for dirt cheap and go the opposite direction.

I really don't care if they make a lot of money from Ultimate Team in Madden (although I actually do because they are obviously putting the majority of their resources on Ultimate Team)

The rest of the game is ABSOLUTE TRASH, and has been since Madden 13. The games before that were fun enough, but they had a lot of problems still. I was playing Madden 08 recently, but I stopped because every time you ran the ball up the middle, the running back would glitch on the OLine. ESPN 2k5 with sliders DESTROYS any Madden game ever made for a fun and realistic NFL football experience. All Pro Football 2k8 is exactly what a football game made 3 years after 2k5 should be.

Madden is embarrassed by these games, and it's really too bad that this isn't more of a scandal in the video game industry. A lot of gamers don't care that much because it's a sports game.

Only issued refunds after legally forced to and years after origin was.

Literally selling animated gifs and emojis. They gamify their sales to exploit addictive compulsive behavior. Their prices are almost always higher. And their only quality standard is censor the lazy hentai games.

But even if we ignored all that and pretended they actually did have a consumer friendly digital platform. They still sell fan mods in lootboxes which makes them more disgusting than anything ea, ubi, capcom, square, activision, 2k, or Bethesda have ever done.

Will never forgive EA for the initial release of Burnout Paradise on the PC. Disk came missing a vital .dll file and they refused to put out a patch for it. Only way to play the damn game that you'd bought was to download an illegal crack.
