It wont let me renew online, since I guess the rule is that if your last renewal was online, you have to go in person. For renewals in Texas right now, you have to schedule an appointment online with the DPS.

Scheduled one for today, and an hour before my appointment I get this text

At this time we are having connectivity issues. Once the issue is resolved we will contact you to reschedule your apt. we apologize for the inconvenience.

Welp. Great. Can you get a ticket for an expired license during this pandemic when it seems next to impossible
to even get a license renewal?

Im flying on Monday...can I use my passport as a substitute?

You can do it online I think?

I seen people cash a check with their phones by taking pictures

how is DMV not into that tech yet?, where you take a pic of all documents, they verify and get your new card

If you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all.

Ya, at least where I am at a Pass Port Trumps all.
In NYS a passport is considered the highest form of ID..

OK I looked it up, and they're allowing 12 months for domestic travel for an expired ID for my state(TX).

Not sure if California companies will accept an expired ID for a car rental...guess I'll have to call the car rental place directly. Damn it.

when REAL ID becomes a legit thing, I won't even be able to use my state ID to fly.

So yes.

Sweet, so most car rentals are waiving ID expiration dates through the end of July, so I'm good! Fuck yeah.
