I'm a millenial 1985 and I even cook often when my 2 little kids are here. Not always junk KD stuff. Typically takes under 30 mins.

I hate cooking, personally. I do it but I find it unpleasant. Other household chores are a lot more enjoyable aside from deep bathroom cleaning.

I enjoy cooking for the most part, i've gotten pretty good at it. I got a wood pellet smoker grill here lately and i'm grilling like 5 nights a week. I'm decent at fish and shellfish also.

Study suggests yes, but they still cook more often than not.

I suspect there are a lot more millenial homes where all adults are full-time employees.

In my experience:

My (single parent) mother was always too busy working to cook dinner. Most of my meals growing up were fast food, microwaved, or just ready-to-eat junk food. I never learned to cook from her. I did take it upon myself to learn to cook as a teenager, but I'm still not great at it.

I imagine a lot of people have similar experiences. Their parent(s) were too busy working/too tired to cook, so there was never a culture of home cooked meals to inherit. Cooking also just sucks? You get hot and sweaty standing over the stove, you have to constantly stay busy to clean as you go or deal with a huge mess at the end, and the food might come out bland without a lot of trial and error. Why go through all that effort when you can pay like five bucks more per person to get something that you know will taste decent and have zero cleanup?

I dislike cooking.
