I think it depends how underdressed. Like, wearing a Limp Bizkit shirt to an interview would be way worse than showing up a little late

Depends on how underdressed; like, if you showed up to a job interview in sweats and a T shirt with some snarky catch phrase on it, probably that, but if it's nice jeans and a polo when you should have worn khaki's and a button-up or even a basic suit, being late would probably be worse.

Yeah, and it might just be my experience because of the industry Im in (software dev) but I dont think dressing particularly nice is all that expected anymore

i presume its different for like, finance positions or something tho
