Twilight vampires sparkle in the sun and that's it. in Vampire Diaries every damn vampire character ends up getting a magic ring that makes them immune to the sun there was a show like 15 years ago called like Moonlight or something, but ironically the show spent most of the time in the day. it was about a vampire that lived in in like Vegas I think. and they made a point to say that the sun doesn't hurt vampires in the first episode. Well both I guess. Also in reference to Angel the series and the guy that only saw season 1, season 1 was pretty garbage, especially in comparison to the rest of the series. I would argue that each season gets progressively better. Although the whole is not as good of a series as Buffy, the final season is as good or better than any individual season of Buffy. --- Nothing can happen 'till you swing the bat.
