The fact that even I know this and the entire US government apparently doesnt blows my mind: we should have had national guidelines for how to deal with COVID The orange one didnt want to establish a national policy or plan of action to deal with this pandemic. He left it to the states. we ended with a stupid patchwork of state and sometimes even local policies (or lack thereof) and that is stupid. Having state-only regulations where some states are good about it (eg NY) and some are really bad (eg THE ENTIRE SOUTH) is as good as having a peeing section at a pool. we closed down businesses and caused them irreparable harm, without having the balls to tell bubba, Karen and baby-billy that they are now supposed to stay at home. what good is killing the economy to stop the virus if bubba and baby-billy are now going to the beach, to the park and their kids are literally having COVID parties in their backyards? the mask policy is fucked up. n95 masks stop the virus. PERIOD. Everybody should wear n95 masks. Its not rocket science. b-but kek bro! Theyre for the hospital workers!. Yeah, hospital workers who will have dozens of thousands more people to attend because bubba and Karen spread their dirty germs from March through April. B-but kek bro! Face masks dont stop the virus! No they dont. N95 ones do. If there arent enough POTUS should have used his war time production act powers and made companies make more. Thousands of people have lost their jobs: THEY COULD BE BACK AT WORK RIGHT NOW HELPING TO MANUFACTURE N95 MASKS! this was not rocket science, this virus situation could have been won. Everyone's favorite anonymous basketweaving forum had been monitoring it since December (me personally, January). Before March, Congress was clashing with Trump on the sloppy travel ban (and it was nothing to do with it being sloppy but cause it was "racist"), and both Fauci and the news media were all saying this was nothing serious and no more dangerous than the flu. This pandemic has me convinced that most of the population just isn't good at foresight. And given how politicians, to get into office, they don't need to demonstrate foresight, it's not surprisingly how badly so many fucked up. For me, mocking people like this is how I deal with the absurdity of it. But it stresses out my girlfriend in a similar way so I stopped doing it around her. I'll stop on CE at least until statements like "COVID 19 isn't even as bad as the flu" are no longer things people actually mean and we've gotten a handle on controlling the virus.
