This whole thing is mind boggling. People are pretty vocal about wanting more old gen pokemon added to sword and shield, or getting Gen 4 remakes, and they shit out...a moba?

What really pisses me off was the leadup to the 6/24 stream after the 6/17 stream. The 6/17 stream had a few nice things like the swsh DLC going live, pokemon snap 2, mega evolutions in pokemon go, and a couple other random things like that cafe game. Then they said, by the way, we have another exciting announcement stream on 6/24! Like it was something so awesome that it couldn't fit into the 6/17 20 minute presentation.

The problem is, they didn't just lump the moba into the "random things" section where it belonged.

They dedicated an announcement, a week's leadup, and an entire second announcement to shit out what? A mobile game.

That's the problem.

There are a few speculations. Supposedly in Japanese, he started the presentation saying "first off," implying there would be more after this. Either they cut out an additional announcement or it was meant to be a part of the first show in the first place. But they made it its own thing out of one of many reasons

Either they thought it would've been eclipsed by Snap, which is most certainly would've been, or they were paid a lot of money to make it its own show

I mean that was my highest possible hope, yes, but I sure wasn't expecting it.

My lowest bar/expectation was Let's Go Johto (after seeing the previous trailer had a bunch of Johto plushies in the background, as well as Let's Go Pokachu/Eevee cases in the background).

And boy was I apparently too lofty for my baseline being a sequel to a game that I wouldn't have even bought the original of (my girlfriend bought me Let's Go Pikachu, I never would've bought it myself).

A freaking mobile game.
