I'll keep saying it UltraDavid was a lead gentrifier of the FGC. He saw the money to be made and being literally a rich white male who once said he was scared of getting robbed at FGC events because of all the ethnicity to saying actually I'm a minority and diversity makes us strong. Do you legitimately believe this guy went from a scared rich white kid to diversity king because he suddenly realized he was Jewish? Like that didn't occur to him for decades? And why is it the FGC has become less diverse over time? With more and more minority players forced out as the sponsors and big money comes in? Everything about the current "eSports" thing is about making money, and the easiest way to do that is to appeal to upper/middle class white people. So you need to appeal to their moral values and if that means minorities get primarily thrown under the bus you don't care. For those rich white people it's all about how they feel about themselves, not about the actual results.

Also for people who think I'm overstating it. Where do these white people go to learn proper speech and what you can and can't say and all the other rules? College. One of the most gentrified things in society. And they expect all these minorities who grew up in poverty to just understand all the rules, "educate themselves", etc. It's rarely about actual behavior, and almost always about following the speech codes of upper/middle class white culture.

I lived it. I grew up on the rez. I went to FGC events back in the day and I loved it. White people were a minority and the ones who were there actually understood how to speak and interact within a predominantly black cultural space. And there way gay people, trans people, Asians, Latino, everyone was there. And yeah the language and attitudes were not PC, and some individuals were terrible, but this was largely a place where people could hang out and not have to conform to what white society said is proper behavior. It was real. I loved it. I watched it start to die off the last few years I was in America. And I get what the goal of many of these people is, and it is admirable. Wanting people to feel welcomed, wanting to get rid of discrimination, wanting a safe environment. All of these things are admirable, but the reality is it is largely "wanting to make money off these people by conforming to upper/middle class white morality". It's like the NFL/NBA with white owners and black players. It's the same shit happening in the FGC except the playerbase is getting drowned out now too because of barriers being erected that didn't used to exist. The FGC was the most diverse e-sports community because it was created by diversity, not because some white guys with a degree in public relations told everyone how to speak PC.

Most have barriers that only the upper/middle class can traverse. In America that's predominantly whites and Asians. FGC let poor people compete, you didn't even need a console or a controller to go to the arcade and throw down or play with a group on a shared console. You need a high-end computer for most of those other games and a great internet connection. You also need to qualify for events, but not FGC, anyone can show up and compete. FGC was built around those who didn't have the means to make a gated community and so it never had one.

Like what the asian transgender said in his apology video. he said he grew up in ny and using the n-word with his black friends and all ppl he grew up around was the norm and was never used in a malicious and negative way

Im sure most people here on this very board including all Mods who like to warn or take karma away from people for similar things have done this. Adjusted the way they speak, not only just to get with the times. But because they are maturing as a person.

So if you are calling for others to be cancelled you gotta make sure you squeaky clean too honey.

FChamp (gay filipino) - couple of weeks ago posted a picture up on twitter of a watermelon he was about to each with the hashtag #watermelonlivesmatter
infiltration (asian) - domestic violence accusations. mind you, it was always accusations at the time. but from what i have read, it was a situation where when he presented his wife with divorce papers she flipped it and he held her arms in self- defense or to stop her from trashing the room up which left marks on her arms.

Also with ChrisG, apparently EG knew about it years ago and he mentioned to them if it will be a problem and they said no and they supposedly even discouraged him from coming forward about it to his fans/viewers a lot earlier because they didnt want the potential negative attention.
