I see. I don't agree that it makes me a hypocrite, or that if it does, being a hypocrite in this matter isn't damning. But I agree with the other stuff you said. I also am not Jimmy so I can't say if he changed for the right or wrong reasons. But you could also change for the wrong reasons and later on realize the reasons you should of changed. I'm never one to block the right path just because someone was in the wrong one before.

I recall a story of Kendrick Lamar getting fussy over an overzealous Caucasian fan reciting his lyrics, word for word, on his stage using a mic he gave her, where the lyrics included the "N-word" that he was rapping for a majority white audience. This made news for some reason, so I'm gonna try and be consistent and say no, it does not excuse it. Apparently in the US, white folks are strictly forbidden from using the word, even if it's in media designed to appeal to them.

Thats where it gets tricky. The word is part of the black culture now, which Ive always been fine with.

But if were really talking equality...Id agree that everyone should just stop using the word. If were tearing down confederate statutes and changing names of places with racist origins...maybe we should eliminate the N word entirely, as it has an incredibly origin and history?
