Ya that's not what happened.
Police were trying to enter but the CHAZ armed security refused to let them in. Hence, emergency services like ambulances were delayed in their response

cops are not allowed in to investigate crimes, so it's left up to the chaz residents to issue their own justice, assuming it's not the higher powers in there doing the crimes themselves and getting away with it (sound familiar?)

apparently there are reported rape crimes being committed in there daily, which I seriously hope are just false reports.

Never a fan of communes, usually incompetent, manipulative people in charge.

They had no clue that the medics couldn't go in without police securing the area, but now they do. So I have to wonder if they plan to either take it upon themselves to be the police and the medics AND fire fighters, or are they going to protest against medics?

This autonomous zone crap is obviously not working. I'm sure there's been a lot of unaccountable activity going on and nothing being done about it.

Could they not move the man or carry him to the ambulance? Moving him may have hurt the person more but it seems better than than just watching him die if the EMTs didnt want to move in.

Ive been reading through the oath and code of ethics, and Im not sure if either is legally binding, in the event of physical dangers that EMTs might personally face. I wonder if anyone here has a better understanding of it, especially in regards to the Capitol Hill area where these EMTs were.

There's waaay more than the oath >_> There's state and municipal protocols you have to follow too and 99% of them say that if the scene is unsafe (in this case, a guy shot 2 people), you have to wait for police to show up to control the scene. If they ignored that in such a high profile, media covered area, there's no way they could hide that and they definitely would've been reprimanded. Not to mention that:

I assume its some kind of general rule for EMTs to not go into an unsecured scene of a shooting. Plus at the time the information they were getting may have still been developing and also maybe they were told to standby and wait for orders.

Some things could go wrong

• The shooter(s) may still be in the area and shoot at them, similar to how firefighters sometimes get shot at.
• The shooter(s) may take them as hostages
• They may be injured & become more victims in need of emergency medical help
• Their ambulance may be looted for supplies.

But I may be completely wrong. Im not an EMT, ever trained to be, or know about their protocols, Im just making assumptions.

SOP for EMTs. They're not allowed to go into any violent scene unless cleared by police. It's the responsibility of CHOP folks to bring the wounded outside of the area and the EMTs can get them there.

Isnt it dangerous to move someone injured without the proper training? Not saying the EMTs should have gone in. but taking out the wounded seems bad for the wounded.
