Get a referral to a physical therapist if you are concerned that bad posture might hurting you. Just trying to sit up straight won't help, as there are all kinds muscle groups involved that need to be retrained. You might hurt yourself too if you try to do funky things with your neck, back, or shoulders.

Hmm, might do this when I get back to Austin. I'm a PhD student so we'll have to see exactly what my insurance will cover, but I wouldn't be surprised if I can get help with this.

My posture was fucked as all hell due to improper seating support while at work. My back more or less corrected itself over the course of 8 months where I was standing everyday, retraining my muscle groups on proper support. It was pretty bad to start, as my back would spasm multiple times a day if I even so much as jumped down from a height.

Tbh my posture isn't that bad, but I have a definite case of slumped shoulders and nerd neck that I'm worried will become a big problem in a decade or two if I'm not conscientious. But it's bad.

Can't put an actual timeframe on it as it just became second nature.

Don't think long term. Just focus on fixing your posture when you notice it.

This. I tried some exercises recommended on reddit and ended up with severe neck pain in addition to back pain from bad posture. It took weeks for the neck pain to go away.

You need to learn how to stretch and strengthen your neck flexors, chest, and upper & lower traps.

Bad posture means somethings either too tight or somethings imbalanced.
