1. Will Sasso
2. Aries Spears
3. Frank Caliendo
4. Michael McDonald
5. Bobby Lee

Mo Collins, Alex Borstein and Stephnie Weir right behind.

Will Sasso, Aries Spears and Frank Caliendo were all supreme impressionists that really carried the show.

Michael McDonald and Bobby Lee were just funny guys with a couple memorable characters. Stuart and Bae Sung being my favorites between them.

I would include Key and Peele but they came on so late and ended up trailblazing their own show.

True.

Makes me realize how long it's been since I watched the show.

Currently watching clips on YouTube. Will reevaluate after I've watched a good portion.

I always loved Will Sasso.

His Tony Soprano and Stone Cold impersonations were so spot on.

Also love his Steven Segal, Kenny Rogers and of course Schwarzenegger.

He also does a perfect Jesse Ventura.

Phil Lamarr definitely deserves top 5.

I forgot about this absolute gem.

I think I'll extensively watch through some MadTV and make a bigger list since I'm going mainly based off of a lot of old memories.

  5. Nicole Sullivan
Honorable mentions to Andrew Daly (short lived but my god what a funny man) and Bobby Lee (one of the most disgusting yet funniest people)

From watching Bobby Lee's clips and interviews on YouTube, I find it interesting how Will Sasso is by and large the most beloved performer from MadTV and no one has anything nice to say about Aries Spears.

And it's shocking how beloved Bobby Lee is from his ex-castmates. Figured they would hate him but by and large it seems they adore him.

Some of y'all live to talk shit.

I said my opinions were mainly based off of old memories. I just happen to remember more characters played by the male cast members.

I remember Debra Wilson's fat character with Aries Spears.

Ms. Swan with Alex Borstein.

Stephnie Weir and her little annoying sister character(Dot?) and her old lady character.

Mo Collins as Stuart's mom.

I'm gonna be rewatching a lot of MadTV and will be reevaluating my list.

I'm guessing Aries was just a cool, talented dude who did his thing. While Will and Bobby are like stereotypical class clowns who live to make people happy.

Will Sasso has to be somewhat related to James Gandolfini. Most people can do the impersonation, but to look almost exactly like him is nuts.

Will is Italian so it makes sense.

I love a quality impressionist and these two are the best. With Frank Caliendo deserving his due as well, but I understand that he got irritating towards the end of his run though.

My subjective memories are exactly what influenced my list. Phil Lamarr's gay rapper is one of my favorite sketches and I'm surprised I forgot it, but I can't remember any of his other sketches.

Alex Borstein is memorable as Ms. Swan, but I can't recall anything else of hers.

My rewatch will really help me shape my opinions. Considering paying for a month of HBO Max to marathon MadTV in good quality

You also earn a cool guy tag.

I'm new to MadTV , I only discovered it a few months ago , I'm watching whatever is available on YouTube .

Like most sketch shows , for every 1 good sketch , you get 3 average/bad ones , but when it's good , it's really good .

I would personally replace Bobby Lee with Debra Wilson in TC's list . But to be honest , every single cast member had several times to shine .

I'm particularly fond of The Kim Jong Il Show and Bae Sung.

Admittedly Bobby Lee was my favorite cast member as a 10 year old because he was a goofy dude who would appeal to my demographic.

Still love this though.
