I dont get why everyone plays 3 on Master Chief Collection...very strange. If I had to rank them for multiplayer only, Id say...

2>>Reach>1>>>>>>3>>>>>>>>>4

4 sucked. 5 wasnt even a Halo game, honestly. Although it felt good to play, I dont consider 5 part of the Halo franchise.

Agreed. And the fight for power weapons/knowing spawns of the weapons.

I loved that if you grabbed rockets and held onto them, a new rocket wouldnt spawn till you drop it.

The maps were GOAT for sure. Iconic maps that just keep getting remade over and over. Halo 1 maps felt the same to me for the most part.

3 always felt like a more refined version of 2 to me. Only things I liked better about 2 were the hitscan BR and the overall map selection was better, but 3 still had plenty of good ones and Forge allowed the not so good ones to shine.

In MCC, I enjoy 2A the most though. Really wish they would redo more maps.

And I sort of agree on 5. It's insanely fun and satisfying to play, but it just doesn't feel like Halo, and I think a big part of that is the completely different art and sound design. Infinite looks to be going back to the classic visuals, and I'm sure the gameplay will be closer to 5 than 2/3 so we'll see if that gameplay coupled with the classic visuals gives me that Halo feeling again.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I find halo 5 to have the best FPS multiplayer game this gen. It has a game mode for everyone.

May not feel like halo but beyond that the gameplay and variety is great. Reminds me of unreal tournament when I play on the game mode with random weapon spawns.

halo 5 is great; pretty good MP. Just suffered from subpar maps

I had a great time on 5. The custom games browser is incredible. There are some really cool ass forge maps/game modes. I just wish MCC would add that. Theyve said theyre adding it like...years ago at this point.

Agreed. Well, the BR kind of did too. I remember when Halo 2 came out, no one played BR starts for the first year or so. Once they changed team hardcore into the default, I enjoyed it significantly less.

Theres been a playlist in MCC called the Yappening, where theres a fiesta type game variety on halo 2. But, all the bullets use twice as much, essentially cutting the clip size in half on all the guns.

The BR is SO much more balanced with less ammo in the clip.

Agreed. H2A looks INCREDIBLE on the One X in 4K. Honestly I wish they would just remake all of Halo 2 mp with that engine.

I remember how seriously everyone took the rankings online, too. Getting past like...level 36 in team slayer was a bitch.

I also miss when everyone was in game chat in online games, and you could talk shit in the pregame/post game lobbies. The post game lobby didnt have a timer, so you could just sit there shouting at the team you just beat for 15 min if you really wanted until someone backed out lolol

Remember when Halo 2 had proximity chat, where you could hear enemy teams headsets if you were close? Why the hell havent more games done that? Was such a neat concept.

LOVED IT. I would always try to grab the bomb on Zanzibar and Headlong and crouch-walk my way near the plant spot and listen for the enemy team to see what they were up to before pouncing. I miss it so much.

proximity chat died when group chat became a thing. tbqh, group chat is what killed my enjoyment of halo 3. that game was silent unless you were talking to a group of friends.

I want reach, just with running as a default button like in 4. The aesthetic is what Halo always should've been; after Reach, everything looks samey as heck. Couldn't tell a Spartan from any other scifi shooter.

It's hard to explain but it has a certain flow to it. Each weapon is clearly defined and has its own purpose. Energy shields and health being vulnerable to different types of weapons just give it a different feel. Seeing a shield pop and knowing you're one headshot or melee away from victory is fun.

I always liked it more than stuff like COD where TTK is so quick. There's just a video game language that's unique to Halo's gunplay.

I agree, though I would still rank Halo 3 second and not too far behind. Playing Halo 3 on MCC did reveal some of its flaws that I just never realized when I was younger. That isn't the case with Halo 2. Plus, before they overhauled the matchmaking settings for MCC, 75% of the time you'd be playing Halo 3 because it's the most popular game in the collection by a mile. It was certainly a turn off.

if you want to compare it to other MP then you've got to look at quake and unreal. movement isn't as fast, but its much more similar then COD.

Although remember the massive failure that was the MCC launch for the first like...3 years of its life? That game came out in 2014 originally. I remember taking the day off of work to play and maybe got in...2 games total that whole day?

It really didnt even work properly until like 2017.

I think bringing back the Assault Rife in Halo 3 I think was a mistake, dual wielding in Halo 2 was done perfectly, I think that might be my biggest issue when comparing 2 to 3. In Halo 2 dual wielding was much more diverse, powerful, and important than Halo 3. Non MLG rules, when you respawn in 2 you have to just grab whatever secondary gun you can find to dual wield, but they arent that weak where you are screwed if you run into someone with a power weapon, you can still outplay them. Halo 3 you dont pick up shit when you spawn because you got the AR

The swipe sniping nerf also I didnt like in Halo 3

I liked dual wielding at first, but then BR start just made them pretty much worthless. It was sad.

Halo 2 sniping feels GREAT. Same with Reach. Team snipers with 2 and Reach turned on in MCC is such a good time

Nothing has ever come close to the old days of Halo CE on PC. I like 1 2 and 3's multiplayer tho, for sure. Dont care for Reach's, dislike 4's, never even bought 5 (4 turned me off from the Halo story and that's my main reason for playing)

Yeah I was never a fan of the BR starts or the MLG rule set, I always had a lot more fun w/ the classic rules. BR start is similar to what starting the the AR did in Halo 3, there is no reason to use any other weapon besides the power weapons if you already got the AR or BR, gameplay became very bland and repetitive.

I wouldn't mind Halo 3's veto system since you didn't know what the new map would be so it was a bit of a gamble. Don't like this map? Vote to pick a new one...but you might hate it more.
