i saw a brief headline on the GMA ticker this morning about the police precinct having been taken over or something, and that was it. massively understating what's going on. it's really fucking weird.

There's just no appetite in the media for it right now. I think they recognize that they're not going to make money reporting on hilariously colossal failed attempts by individuals to create the kind of society they're demanding.

When the police move back in expect to see some reporting on it, especially if anybody gets punched. Then suddenly it will be a big deal.

That is pretty meaningless. It is the equivalent of responding to accusations with "Nu uh. Come on, bruh. No way". A very, "we investigated ourselves and found that we aren't doing anything wrong" kind of statement.

Which is weird because they basically live streamed the first few days so there's plenty of video evidence that there were problems.

Now that people are starting to report on this, we've hit that point where people are going to determine what they want to be true and then just write off any evidence to the contrary.

Thats good to hear. I understand the outrageousness of having a section of the city not controlled by officials, but I figure its better than creating more harm by sending in police or the military at this point. I dont think it will last anyway.

edit: i just looked up what exactly "theblaze" is and apparently it skews pretty far to the right, so i apologize for posting it as a source before vetting it and i don't want that to be construed as it being in line with my own political position, because it's not. it just happened to be the first result that came up when i searched for "CHAZ preacher" after reading Esrac's post. i pretty much only skimmed through the article. whatever bias they may or may not be for that site, the videos themselves are the telling part.

You'll find that pretty much all the sources trying to shit on CHAZ/CHOP are far-right. Videos can be misleading and when selectively reporting, it can show an event in a different light.

Probably because the sources that aren't right leaning want them to succeed, so are less eager to report on dumb shit that they do. Granted right leaning sources might be too eager.

Regardless, I don't think you can call misleading on this case when the preacher ends up with a gay man hugging on him, refusing to let him go, kissing him, etc. And then a bunch of dudes taking him down into a chokehold while he screams "you're choking me".

just seen a video of a guy rolling around in the dirt there....one comment asks, "what is he doing?" to which somebody defending him says "he is doing a rain dance."

i didn't clue into what i was looking at until I realized it was this free capitol hill place and another comment said it was just a homeless guy on drugs rolling around in their "garden"
