Im enjoying the game overall but man Leon just saying "What the!" 20 times an encounter and Mr.X annoying me as a i try to complete a puzzle has been cooling me on the game.

The novelty of seeing the streamers have fun with it wore off quick when i actually played

I got scared at first and then I realize Mr. X don't chase yah in certain rooms like the save rooms. It was easy to manipulate once you learn how the AI works.

He's not even hard. Its dodge punches, wait for him to do his neck crack, unload on head. Rinse and repeat

Yeah thats what i do. I just hate leaving the room starting a new puzzle and hearing him coming again.

I kind of agree. People whined about most of the Nemesis encounters in RE3R being scripted but I definitely preferred that to the constant pain in the ass that Mr.X is.

Mr. X is only annoying if youre bad at the game. You can literally avoid him the entire game aside from the couple forced encounters if you use your head a bit. Its because of whiny baddies that Nemesis was ruined.

mr x actually follows you places so if you lead him off a ways and then quietly return where you need to be you can make him leave you alone for a big chunk of time

He was cool at first. I just grew tired of him. I'd just down him then run around for about 10 mins. Come back and it would happen again.

For an enemy that stalks you the whole game i found it was a lot weaker than Alien Isolation. I beat Leon's side and i enjoyed it.

He doesn't stalk you anywhere close to the whole game

Enemy's like Mr. X are what immediately turns me off from a game and why I'll never bother with games like RE2. I want to explore every book and cranny, move at my own pace and not worry about a invincible stalkers ruining my experience so often.

Yeah that's what makes him annoying, constantly having to do that

I'll admit, I did find him genuinely stressful when I first started playing, but after you've gone through the game a few times and figured out what he will and won't do, he's really just a nuisance

i mean you dont have to. Part of resident evil games, good ones anyway, had always been about memorizing routes and alternate pathways to get where you need to go. You can almost always take a diversion and lose him in the process or even just double back and get to a place where you can dodge him easier and get by him that way

the re2 remake had some problems but mr x definitely wasnt one of them. Hes basically a test of how well you know the layout of the rpd

  1. Figure out where you spawn Mr X
  2. Reload save before then
  3. Do as much as possible before you reach trigger point
Do that and you barely have to deal with him.

Mr X is only as hard as you make him

He's slower than you, his attacks are easy to dodge and if you're quiet he will never find you.

Don't bother downing him, it's not worth the ammo. Just give him the old run around

He cannot enter save rooms (Except the main hall I guess) so if you get stuck, pop your head in those

Mr X gets people because players panic when they see him. He's really pretty toothless.

It's not a matter of "gitting gud" that Mr. X is a problem.

It's because he breaks the game's natural flow and rhythm. Up until that point in the game, players could play at their own pace. Slowly exploring the police station, letting the tension grow, trying to solve the puzzles and figure out where you should go next.

Then Mr. X comes along and cocks that all up. Overall, it's like someone coming along and adding a bunch of hot sauce to your chocolate cake. Sure, I like spicy food but not on my cake.

Most of the game he does. From the police station to the lab. The only break you really get is the sewers

This. I had never played the original but when I played the remake I quickly realized he only follows you when you run. Lead him to the main hall or library or another large room with multiple paths, abuse the camera angle, and just walk away lol

Mr. X is fantastic in REmake2. He's there to really throw you out of the loop, mix things up and make it much more dynamic. He's incredibly easy once you've played the game a few times but on the first run through it's terrifying hearing the sound of thudding footsteps in your general location. You have no idea where he is, only the rough idea that he's in a room next to you or on the floor above. He's also only in the game a short while so he doesn't overstay his welcome. I wanted Nemesis in REmake 3 to be Mr.X on crack but he got severely gimped.

Also you have use "stealth" to get past Mr X. If you walk quietly, don't fire any bullets, aren't sprinting and busting open doors he's far less likely to show up. I think he's only scripted in one or two locations. Also if for example he's in the library with your, if you hide behind a bookshelf and he doesn't see you, he'll leave.

Yeah he's just not fun to deal with. The first encounter is exciting, then pretty much every time after that he's just a minor annoyance that impedes your progress.

It would be one thing if he had more unique interactions with the environment and player, but when the problem is solved by just ducking into a save room or walking until he despawns, it immediately removes all tension from the interaction.

Reloading a save isn't an exploit. It's a part of Resident Evil's design.

The police station is the only time that's not a scripted fight or escape sequence. Even then he's not there the entire time you're in the station.
