He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair on June 16, 1944.

During his trial, even on the day of his execution, he always carried a bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent.

He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents.

At that time, all members of the jury were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later.
The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city.

Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents.

He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city. He was alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer.
He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager's head.
70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina. The boy was innocent, someone set it up to blame him for being black.

yea. one of the most evil things in american history. the only solace I take in that case is all the people who worked to get him executed are fucking dead in the ground now.

fuck every last one of them. but anyway, this should be brought up more when arguing with anti BLM people. this is the perfect example of the kind of thing that's being happening to black americans through all of US history

There are actual photos of his execution. He has tears streaming down his face as they put the conductor over his head. It's gut-wrenching.

it's so hard to even come close to understanding how the hell a bunch of grown ass adults could all gather around in an execution chamber with a child about to die, and not one of them says "you know.....this is kinda fucked up. maybe we shouldn't do this"

Almost as infuriating, the person who murdered those two girls got away scot-free. So they could very well have done the same thing to other innocent people. Disgusting and very sad to think about.

He would be the same age as a lot of your grandpas if he would still be alive. Its shocking and infuriating that stuff like this just happened a few decades ago, yet a lot of the people that were there and are still alive today claim there's no racism in America.

they probably did. it was probably a serial killer who went on to continue their career and kill more people while all the racists clapped and felt good about themselves for killing a scary black boy

Stinney was especially screwed over by his defense counsel, who had political ambitions and deliberately gave bad advice so as to not compromise his political prospects by offering a proper defense.

The counsel was also from a prominent family of former slaveholders which my research suggests enslaved my ancestors on the paternal grandmother's side of the family in the same county up until five generations back.

The legacy of slavery and indeed racism, particularly as it manifests itself in public institutions, is very real.

no. the government still said he was the killer for 75 years until someone finally was able to prove that was wrong. so that means the killer did roam free for the rest of their lives

Now THAT shit right there depresses me on multiple fronts

- No justice for those little girls
- Parents of that young innocent boy, and the victims (as well as the other potential victims) never got any closure.
- It took this long to set the record straight, but still too late for GS and his family.
- The killer got away that time and never had the balls to listen to his conscience.
