The spikes we are seeing now are unlikely to be related to the protests. Those will come later.

What we are seeing now are spikes from reopening in general.

We can't have mixed messaging going on though. Either the virus is still enough of a problem that we need to stay closed, and it's unsafe to protest or its no longer a problem and protesting is fine.

I agree with the spirit of the protests, but a lot of these people are the ones who are saying coronavirus is still a major threat. I'm of the opinion that this is the worst time possible for these types of protests. We had started to do well until governors started caving to people to reopen early.

This shit has been going on for decades, and most people didn't give two shits about it. But hey it's the big thing on the news now, so it's the most important thing in the world. Like corona was a month ago. This is not a post against the BLM. The cause is very important and should've been addressed ages ago. However, the fickle passion of people drives me nuts.
