Let me preface this by saying that I agree that in the West, beauty standards (and culture in general) are too white centric. I think that too many icons of beauty in the West are white people. Too many white models, actors, and actresses. It;s why I roll my eyes when those Vegy accounts post about white women countlessly, despite me thinking that indeed the women he posts are indeed attractive.

I also think there is a big symptom of general racism in the West against minorities, both overt and subtle. I am biased but I believe I am also anti-racist. I can go into detail about that, but I will push that aside for now.

However, I don't think racial preferences makes you racist. I admit I do have racial preferences when it comes to romance and attraction. I will also admit that the media has a large effect on your upbringing. But as said your original post, it's your body, your choice. Also, sometimes you have a soft spot for a set of features that you find really attractive, that you tend to be narrow minded and ignore other characteristics. For me it's long straight hair, especially if it's blonde.

I say this without doing any research on the matter, but where would you say has a more diverse standard of beauty than the West?

It's only racist if the only reason you won't date someone is because of their race despite having attraction to them. For instance, I can say that I'm not into white guys because I'm not into the prominent features that most white guys share (this is just an example, white guys are hot lol). That's fine, we all have a preference. However, if I'm attracted to a black guy with mostly African American features and then suddenly lose interest when I find out that he's half white despite not having any prominent white features, that's racist.

This is an idiotic take, as I heavily doubt that an exact eye shape or an exact skin tone is anybody's only interest (and if it is, that's basically the "elbows too pointy, would not bang" neckbeard cringe statement). And it is racist to say flat out that you're not attracted to an entire race, as it is a flagrant absurd generalization of an entire race. That's basically a definition of racism.

This isn't a difficult concept. My thing is natural redheads with light freckles, that's a fairly unique Northern European thing. But having a preference is different from having an exclusivity. Again, if Gabrielle Union offered to jump on your dick, you're flat out crazy if you weren't interested as a straight dude.

It depends on how it's worded and felt. If a person says "i won't date that person BECAUSE he's chinese and all Chinese people are unattractive", then that's obviously racist.

If a person says "I usually don't date Chinese men because I don't find features common in them attractive, but I'm open to the idea if I do see one that tickles my fancy", then that's not racist.

Yes, saying you find an entire race unattractive is absolutely racist. It's a generalization of an entire people due to a physical characteristic (which varies vastly, mind you). Again, that is basically a textbook definition of racism. We're not talking about narrow preferences, but wholesale racial exclusivity of consideration of attractiveness.

Am I saying that people with that view are borderline klan members? Of course not, but it is a ridiculous and racist thing to say and think. If you're straight and done find Gabrielle Union or Tessa Thompson or prime Tyra Banks hot, you're crazy.

And in regards to the post above, the difference between not being attracted to a race versus not being attracted to a sex are wholly different and recognized as ingrained sexual orientations rather than cognitive holdbacks. There is no such thing as caucasexuality or afrosexuality or anything like that. And that still being said, straight dudes can still recognize attractiveness in other dudes.

@K181 I think it's important to have a few more words in that sentence to make it more clear:
It seems stubborn and stupid for an individual to be flat-out denying that they could possibly experience that type of sexy attraction or interest to anyone who happens to be of a certain race.

What makes "are racial preferences racist?" Such a muddy statement besides the varying definitions of racism, is that often people cannot determine if someone's words or behavior towards one specific person is racially motivated. We often can only speculate and make larger inferences over trends of the same person being that way towards many people.

Also some people just want racially pure babies or something.

Me, if I told y'all my beliefs and what I'm open to believing regarding race, I'd widely be regarded as super-racist, particularly towards black people, especially on Current Events which is clearly an SJW circlejerk. I might be regarded as more racist than Donald Trump even. Yet, I still think that black women are on some level way cuter and sexier than the other races of women, at least in the environment that I live in,

The next comments are gonna upset some people with their "weirdness", but really, if you think about it, it makes sense that there's white males in the USA out there that feel this way, especially depending on their living situation:

and I kinda feel sorry for guys that have to settle for white women, because white women comparatively have no pride in their background or heritage or if they do they go about it the wrong way and miss the point of having pride in a common heritage particular to them. I constantly want to tell black women how sexy and pretty they are and I know damn well that I am probably more well-equipped than most people to not be creepy and fetishize-y.

I also wish it was socially acceptable for men, strangers or not, to be able to compliment men's appearance. It would be nice to for me, a skinny white guy, to compliment handsome black guys without it being "gay".
