I actually have to do a quick search why saying "all lives matter" so offensive, when so many celebrities recently posting this get instantly lambasted, and doesn't actually realize what's wrong with it. >_>

I think some of them really don't know why it's offensive, but it's true doing your research before posting it at least make sense.

I mean, at face value, saying "all lives matter" shouldn't be a bad thing, because that's a fact, but apparently it is considered offensive nowadays if you use it as a reply, so..... yea, just don't do it.

It takes attention away from the issue which the movement is about. Of course white lives matter. But they haven't been the target of systemic racism in the first world for ... well, ever.

And before you get the wrong idea, no, I'm not angry. I'm perfectly composed. Disagreement is different from anger.

Black lives aren't the only race under target of systemic oppression, theres plenty of other minority groups who have faced similar fates, thats why the phrase doesnt make sense.

The issue isn't about everybody, it's about black lives, at the moment

The subtext in 'All Lives Matter' is 'Sit Down, Shut Up, Everyone's Got Problems.' It's the typical response of people who see societal progress as uncomfortably rocking the boat; they don't actually care about creating awareness of their own so much as neutralizing the movement to which they're responding, so they can return to the comfort of the status quo.

But most of you already knew this.
