You need almost triple the amount of education to do hair.

This is in Ohio specifically, not sure about other states.

It varies significantly by state. Florida is around 900, while Louisiana is more like 360.

Im not even sure additional training would do much to solve the situation at hand. Its more of a pervasive culture within departments and people within those departments either initially being unsuited for authority due to personality traits, or slowly developing those traits over time. Im not sure how classroom time is going to help with that. Some issues might be mitigated with additional instruction, but often times the ones doing things incorrectly or dangerously know they are acting outside of their training.

This radio website article is from 2016 and says Sweden lowered the IQ requirement for cops. Sweden is considered to have one of the world's best trained police force.

Damn, I didn't know my Police Academy marathon was really 600 hours. I'm basically missing a month.

The problem with the police is that they are considered a brotherhood and then there's all this authority they have and its their word against yours. It attracts a lot of people who have superiority complexes.

In an age of cameras on your phones and social media, its becoming harder and harder to be a cop.....hahahahaha

I mean it completely varies by state and county. Mine was technically 1000 hours academy and over 6 months of field training. All in all I didnt become a cop for 2 years. Sounds like youre just counting academy time. Field training is also a part of the regiment

But that movie had Tony Hawk pretending to be David Spade. Surely that counts for something.

This false as well. What youre quoting, was an incident from one department in NY 20 years ago. That same study as well, shows that the average police IQ actually raised from 80s in the 70s to above average now.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/court-oks-barring-high-iqs-cops/story?id=95836

Most Cops Just Above Normal The average score nationally for police officers is 21 to 22, the equivalent of an IQ of 104, or just a little above average.

I don't know anything about police academy, but EMT school is only like 150 hours as most of your education is done afterwards in the field under the watchful eye of your paramedic boss

So it's a little unfair to think after police academy they're 100% a cop on their own in the field. They probably are assigned a coach or whatever

Depends on the state. Some of them are like 10 months long, plus a year of on the street training/supervision afterwards.

Yep. After a 1000 hours or so or academy. I spent almost a year riding with a field training officer that would guide and critique every call based on a grading system. Many officers dropped in this phased and would be fired

Bingo.

The head if the Minnesota police union is basically a known racist who supported shit like unite the right, spoke at Trump rallies, and said BLM is a terrorist organization. He's been working nationwide with other police unions to make sure others racists get into power and stay that way both in the unions and as officers themselves since the unions get to argue shit like who to promote.

And it's not just him. Lots of others at the top of the pyramid are all working towards the same goal.
