Can anyone here say with certainty that Derek Chauvin, the former police officer responsible for George Floyd's death, was motivated by racism in his actions that led to Floyd's death? If yes, how do you know?

And what evidence do we have that he wouldn't have done the exact same thing to a white man?

There isn't any evidence it was purely racially motivated. Could have been personal as apparently they may have knew each other from both working at the same bar.

Nothing to say it would be any different if floyed was white but this cop clearly did not give a single care for human life that day.

It's terrible, what happened, but I don't see why everyone just assumes racism when one guy is white and the other is black.

Decades worth of information regarding police and the brutalization of black bodies is what we're going on.

I'm amazed at the lack of critical thinking going on here. People just assume it had something to do with racism and act on it. I want the proof that this particular guy was motivated by racism. Defaulting to "IT'S RACIST!" is just intellectually lazy.

Not aware of any other victims. Can you share a link?

Source? It's hard to find things right now with all the articles.

Seems most of those were probably justified? And I still don't see where it says his actions were based on racism. Still confused why people are reacting to this as if it's all about racism. I see police brutality, but not racism. Just because the officer is white and the victim is black? Doesn't do it for me, sorry.

Then what's the point?

The long term ramifications of this country's history of oppressing and terrorizing black people, including but not limited to:

Slavery
Failed reconstruction
Jim Crow
Redlining

have never been addressed, leading to systemic inequity and the black population making up a disproportionate amount of the poor population. Poverty correlates greatly with crime, thus black people are more likely to be brutalized by police simply because they were born black.

Yeah, this is an odd case.

I'm not convinced it's a just random racist act #9418. He's a cop who knows he's being filmed and his profession isn't respected yet he still took the knee on a guy he knows for 4+ extra minutes after he was unconscious. That makes no sense to me.

The problem is that the officer treated Floyd like he was subhuman and that there is a pattern of this from LEO in the US

After multiple times, dismissed complaints and his latest incident, it makes you wonder how honest the reports are and how far passed his boundaries did he go.

I do understand what you are asking. We are all too close to see it. Take a time machine into the future if you want to see it.
