I don't understand why. I also don't understand why there are people that try to undermine it either.

Some people truly do not understand that black lives matters doesn't mean "only black lives matter". And some people are just racist.

Idk. I still don't get why Kaepernick triggers so many people. Like I used to work with a guy who hated trump, but the one thing he agreed with him on? Kaepernick.

Blows my mind.

I just think it should be "All lives matter"

but that just can't be the case because of racism. I'd know, I have a racist father.

They become extremely uncomfortable and feel threatened when black people are not content to remain silent and take what they are given with a smile and effusive thanks.

Imagine if the phrase was "Breast Cancer awareness". And people were trying to raise support for breast cancer charities, and wear pink on certain days to raise awareness about breast cancer and do marches to show support.

And then there's that fucking guy who has to say "but what about testicular cancer? That's an important issue too. Every time you try to raise awareness for breast cancer, you're effectively saying that men with testicular cancer should die. That's why I think it should be, "all cancer awareness day"

Everyone knows that guy is an idiot but then we have literally hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who's response to black people saying "don't kill us" is "but..."

Because they both preach about stuff they don't really care about. Kaepernick without hesitation took the bribe he was offered to disappear.

This already happens, my dear pinky. See also, the men who throw temper tantrums whenever male on female domestic violence is mentioned.

B-b-b-but white lives matter too!

Genuinely don't get people who think like this. No one is saying other lives don't matter, but white people in general simply don't face the same issues black people do. We get given the benefit of the doubt (obviously not always, and usually a classist issue in this case with poor people not being given it, but any middle class etc are) or far more effort is put into deescalation, rather than instantly jumping to violence. Far less racial profiling or being stopped and searched for drug related crimes, despite white people being much more likely to be involved.

It's insane, all the message wants is to show that black people deserve the same respect and consideration as everyone else gets. They are people as well.

This happens all the time in the US lol. Most recent time that comes to mind was when the NFL had the players wear the Susan G Komen ribbons and many ppl were upset it wasn't for a cancer more common for men

For the BLM movement I think it intimidates a lot of older white people who are mentally set in how they think the world works, plus white people (myself included sometimes, I'm not immune) tend to think that everything in the world revolves around them

I thought the problem with that particular charity is that it's a scam for-profit, but I'm getting off topic here

Yeah exactly. And faulting him for suing the nfl is kind of a dumb take anyway. The dude was an nfl caliber player and because he refused to shut up about an issue he believes in, he will never play in the nfl again. I'm not saying he's MLK 2.0, but saying he doesn't really care is well... this is what I was talking about in my original post.

Mostly lower class or poverty white people are like this. They've never had the opportunity to realize priveledge do to living situations. I mean, no one looks at a poor person, regardless of their skin color, with admiration. When you look at ugly-ass white trailer trash, do you think positively about them lol? I doubt it severely lol. They've never felt like they mattered either, so when they see a movement crop up, they just see it as yet another thing that doesn't include them.

There's one thing about poverty: it doesn't give a fuck about your skin color and no one cares about you.

Short answer: bad marketing

It requires minor amounts of thought to get the true message across. That's not what slogans are for. Should be a clear and concise message.

I appreciate the sentiment, however I want to see action from all of these companies that are making posts like this. It's obviously not enough to be on (or off) social media. Let's see them donate, organize their own protests, fire racist employees, etc. before we praise them.

Also I don't "appreciate the sentiment" because the genuineness of it is in question, at least for me. When a bunch of companies make same-y Twitter posts and cancel events that are unrelated to world events, it looks like it's done more for their own sake, not because they're outraged.

Just being honest and letting business continue as usual is more real and respectable. At least that way you don't faceitously tie your affairs to ongoing crises that you don't have any real stake in. I won't hate on any entity that is being true to itself and not pretending to care.

Like the completely copy-paste dreck that these Twitter posts comprise actually twists my stomach. Reading the same thing over and over, devoid of emotional sincerity or firm points.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1268203291470528512

Any company doing this looks more faceless than ever to me.
