This guy played the whole game on survivor and goes into detail about the differences between his difficulty and the demo shown to the public last week.

• Barely any resources
• The murder of the girl playing the Vita is nothing compared to the full game
• Enemies that stroll along in the gameplay video are much more observant on Survivor. They'll glance behind them and look around. They won't just blindly walk straight
• Trap mines are a great way to deal with dogs
• The areas the demoer goes through in the video is only around half of the total area
• You can't drag or hide bodies. Taking hostages is a loud technique
• Listen mode is still on in survivor difficulty
• You'll hear enemies cry out their friends names a lot. The dog that dies from being set on fire in the demo is named Bear
• When Ellie makes a clean kill that doesn't alert anyone she'll make a sort of mutter that tells the player they're all good
• Enemies are significantly more responsive on Survivor difficulty. They willl quickly yell for help when spotted compared to the demo where there's a few seconds
• You can opt out of combat in areas if you play it smart

Gameplay wise it sounds like a big step up. Sounds like most of my niggles with the first game have been figured out.

So I never got into these survivor games, but I received The Last of Us last year as a gift and still haven't played it yet. I should probably give it a shot with all the free time I have now..

I'm sure the gameplay is great. Still really worried about the story after the leaks.

IGN preview had some good stuff too.

• Enemy factions have their own tactics. The religious cult favor bows and melee. The wolf gang favor tracking dogs and guns. They both are a unique challenge. Then there are clicker variants as well. I like games that go for that sort of design. They're oftne lacking in games that feature human enemies
• Every time your shot you feel it. Ellie will often stumble and will need to pull out stuff like arrows to avoid bleeding out which can cost you valuable seconds

Same. I'm also starting to think that the game might just be too much for me. Reviewers are all talking up how brutal and oppressive the atmosphere is, and that just doesn't sound like something I want to play, especially with everything going on now.

This. Ill play it through GameFly eventually. I have no qualms with Joel dying itself but rather with being forced to play as Abby after she carries out after she kills and then hunting down Ellie. :/

stuff like this is why even though I love Bloodborne, and it's probably my favorite game ever, I can't play through it as much as I can something like Dark Souls 3

Yeah same. I expected the first part since the first trailer but the second just sounds like it could be really shitty.

Yeah the game sounds brutal on every level.

If you dislike stuff like I Saw the Devil, The Road or The Mist I don't think this game is for you.

I don't think the first game was a particularly happy romp but this seems like a step up.

Do they punish you for trying to sneak past enemies and play a stealth game like the first one?

"Sneak up on this sniper"
*horde of enemies know your location after you cross an invisible line*

"Sneak into the school"
*whoops you crossed that invisible line again so all those enemies you snuck past are chasing you know

Both. Like the first game.

You've got two competing factions of humans, the zombies, the clickers and some new variants that spew gas and stuff.

its already been said that this part was greatly exaggerated from the leaks. You dont play as her for half the game its more like a single chapter.

Uh yeah I'm not sure on that, there was a whole list of levels leaked a while back

I wonder how well this game will perform in America compared to how well it'd do if america were in a happier time
