Is this true?

My old TV seems to temporarily burn in lines a lot easier than it used to. It is an LCD. 1080p Toshiba.

I've had two 65in OLEDs and haven't had burn in on either one despite pretty heavy gaming.

LG65EF9500 before
and current TV is an XBR65A8F.

LCD panels can start having issues after a few years. I had a tablet that got a weird ghosting effect after a few years of heavy usage.

Back in the day, it was plasma tv that had the burn-in problem and lcd was fine. I don't recall problems with lcd as much but after maybe 15 years you'd start to notice because that's when one of the lcd displays we have is starting to show burn-in signs.

My Dell 4K LCD monitor has some image retention issues, but they eventually disappear. I've had OLED TVs and phones that have had burn in, though. OLEDs can degrade pretty fast.

Older lcds from around the early/mid 2000s could get some image retention. With the more modern lcd/led tvs they make today you don't have to worry about it though.

*Pretty much why a samsung qled is my gaming tv. It would drive me insane having to worry about that for 7 years straight*
