It's a similar question to "Did Trump know he was lying".

I think he just didn't give a shit.

No. But I think he and the other officers were planning a rough ride or blanket party. There's something personal about this and it seems like he was targeted.

Wanted to kill him? Maybe not. Wanted to hurt him, cause him to suffer? Yeah, definitely. Anyway, intent doesn't matter here. His intentional, unnecessary actions killed the guy, still murder

The way he's looking at the people telling him to get off the neck pretty much says it all. The guy under him talking about how it hurts, calling for his mom.....he's like in the position of power he dreamed of and loving every second of it.

My initial thought, when I watched the video, was that more information was needed.

After the autopsy and the quotes from that, I do not think he intentionally killed Floyd. I think he is an awful cop and an even worse person. Once Floyd seemingly passed out he needed to do something to help him, not keep him on the ground. He clearly wanted to hurt Floyd and I do not think he cared if he died but I do not think he intended to cause his death.

Considering they knew each other, Floyd was removed from the vehicle and Chauvin would not get his knee and weight off of Floyd's neck for span of minutes, even after Floyd became unresponsive. 100% yes, Chauvin intentionally killed Floyd and needs to be charged with murder. The man is a monster.

Yes. Looking into the back history of the 2 men they actually knew each other and I think had been feuding in the past. They used to work together but probably did not get along

I don't know if he wanted to kill him in the "I hate this guy and want him dead" sense...but he's a tiny dick bitch with an ego who wasn't going to give in to the crowd or what he deemed as a criminal. in his mind he's better than everyone there and was going to do things his way no matter what. By allowing cops to get away with this so much cops in this country have developed that mentality at an alarming rate. If this guy wasn't on Camera and riots didn't break out this guy would have been right too. It still took far too long to arrest him, his complacent buddies still aren't, and if this was like every other case he'd "arrested", overcharged, released immediately, put on trial, let off and hired at a new department.

While you may still believe it is murder, there is a lot factually incorrect about this post.

  1. There is no proof they knew each other. They worked as bouncers at the same club but the owner has specifically stated she would say they did not know each other. Her quote was, "I wouldn't characterize them as knowing each other. We did all work together at the club at different points of time, certainly on Tuesday nights on and off. We were all working on the same team."
  2. Floyd was removed from the vehicle because he told the officer's he was claustrophobic and that he could not breath when they tried to put him in the vehicle. From the complaint, "When two other officers arrived, including Mr. Chauvin, the officers made several attempts to get Mr. Floyd in the back seat of a squad car, while Mr. Floyd struggled with the officers by intentionally falling down, saying he was not going in the car, and refusing to stand still, the statement said. While still standing, Mr. Floyd began to say he could not breathe, the document said."
  3. The preliminary autopsy points to Chauvin not putting the weight required to choke Floyd onto Floyd's neck. The medical examiner says "there is no physical findings of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation."

Chauvin is guilty of something like depraved-indifference, which is third-degree murder or manslaughter in most states. If he is charged with 1st or 2nd degree murder, he probably will not be found guilty based on the current evidence. I really hope they do not charge him with those because he deserves serious prison time.

For some strange reason I got that feeling too. That or the two have personal issues that lead up to this. Makes me think Floyd was possibly even set up.

No. Like it's been said, Floyd didn't die from the pressure to his neck. Chauvin didn't suffocate him with his knee hold. The entire trauma was too much for Floyd to handle. The point is that Chauvin didn't give a shit that Floyd was slowly dying on the pavement.

Police officers aren't trained to kneel on necks. What is the point of this post?

What he did was like throwing a man from a moving train. If he didn't have direct intent to kill, he had wilful negligence for the consequences of his actions and total apathy for what might happen to the victim.

I've no sympathy for the officer in this situation. He had PLENTY of time to change his mind and he stayed with his decision three minutes after being told there was no pulse. How that isn't murder, I don't know.

The cop probably didn't think he was going to die. He and Floyd probably had problems in the past and dude wanted to overpower him somehow and it backfired on him.

The officer and his buddies need to be locked up for life.
