I was ready to roll in penises. I guess pennies are fine too if the final sum is ten million.

this is probably one of the few cases that I might pass on $10 mil.

I have no place to store the pennies, and I imagine it would take a long time to roll them all.

Deal. My bank has a coinstar type machine that you drop coins in and it gets deposited straight to your account.

so 1 billion pennies? Apparently that weighs 5.5 million pounds.

That honestly sounds like more trouble than its worth.

Iirc, those coin counting machines charge like 10%, so if you rather take the lazy route, instead of rolling them, it's still $9 million

And how are you going to carry 5.5 million pounds worth of pennies to the bank?

If you carried a hundred pounds worth of pennies per trip it would take 55,000 trips to the bank. If you do that 10 times a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks out of the year, you'd be doing that for 22 years. I mean maybe that's worth it for you, I'm just saying.

Why would he only carry a hundred pounds? A pick up truck can carry at least 1500 pounds at a time. Load up a truck and get it going

Honestly, I low-balled it and picked a number that seemed physically reasonable to carry. 1500 pounds worth of pennies would fit into about 35-36 buckets (273k coins, 7770 coins per bucket according to numbers I found by googling). That seems like it would fit into the back of a pick-up.

I'd say cut the number of trips in half because it would take longer to physically load the truck, 5 trips per day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks out of the year, and you'd still wind up doing this for almost 3 years. Half that if you can do 10 trips a day. You're a bit out of luck if there's a limit to how much the coin machine can hold though. A google search said coinstair machines typically hold 15-20k coins, and we're talking 273,000 coins per trip.

I rolled $20 worth of pennies once. That was more trouble than it was worth. This is... a lot more than that.

This is a deal with practically no real downside. It's free money, even if I don't want to deal with a majority of it. It's worth at least a couple of trips to the bank before I tire out. Even then, it's still money that I didn't have before. If I convert $5000 before the bank says "No more", that's still a free $5k that I didn't have a minute ago. Sell the rest to the US Government, or whatever. Hell, hire a crew to help me process it. Call all of my "friends" and family. Come grab a load. Keep as much as you want.
