You're literally at times based on your position standing in the field and then sitting on the bench waiting to bat while the NHL player does a lot more work.

the thing about baseball contracts is you usually have to sign long term contracts. we're talking like 8 or 10 year deals. plus baseball is a lot more popular. hockey sadly has never been the same in terms of ratings since their feud with espn and the lockout.

In no part of society are people paid on the basis of how much work they put in. Athletes in particular are paid in accordance to the revenue they bring in.

Yeah it's an entirely different level of athletes. NHL is rough, fast, your feet move every shift. The MLB has some porker players, Pablo Sandoval, Prince Fielder, half of each team's bullpen.

No, it doesn't. Average salaries are pretty directly tied to the league's revenue. How much physical work you put in during a game relative to other sports is not and never has been a factor.

It's like paying someone in sales less than an office worker while the sale's person is bringing in the contracts.

If one company is struggling to bring in sales while another company is thriving, it wouldn't be that surprising if struggling company's salesmen are making less than thriving company's office workers.

If NHL had more games it would gain more fans. Also MLB has been around way longer than NHL so yeah of course they'll have more fanbase NHL is trying to catch up but it's not easy. It's like inventing mustard first then ketchup of course mustard will have more fans it's been around 20 years longer. If Pepsi came before Coke then Pepsi would be the showstopper.

I can guarantee you give a 25 year old athletic guy who's never played hockey or baseball and he can at least hit the fastball. The same guy who's never skated before will fail to score a goal on some average joe blow goalie. Good luck even achieving a slapshot on ice!

Um...I used my knowledge to save up money to get a house and rent out the basement eventually will rent out the entire home. So I get paid more due to knowledge. You come and cut my grass of course you'll get paid less. Once again how is baseball requiring more knowledge than hockey?

try living somewhere like California and playing hockey.

I was paying a couple grand a season just to play. That was before travel teams. And then even when I made it to the amateur pros you still have to field part of the way there.

Offered a ton of half ride scholar ships. Out of everyone I knew including three players who were in the frozen four, I only know one person who got a full ride.

Theres just not a lot of love out here. Its so bad that In high school I got a waiver to play for another school cause nothing within like 35 miles of me had a team.

Bunting is hard though, especially doing it right.

Keep in mind, in baseball, a good batting average is 29 to 30 percent success of getting a hit. These are guys that train all the time too. That shows you how hard it is.

It's actually difficult to get a proper bunt down. Then to beat out the throw to first, requires speed. If you try to bunt at every at bat, you're going to have a batting average below .100 and you'll be cut from the team.
