Doesnt your mom randomly buy stones if you send money home? Im pretty sure theres also certain contacts in your phone that will call you about stones.

Ok I checked Bulbapedia and the only Elemental Stone mom buys you are Moon Stones. Which is bad since they are abundant in the overworld (compared to Leaf, Fire ect.)

Do you have HeartGold? That version is way better than the original. Im pretty sure thats where mom can buy you stones and people call you up about them. You can also win them in the bug catching contest in that game

At least I can still use Slowbro. Hes a good Pokemon and in the Original Gold and Silver you can get a wild one after Surf.

The kid in National Park (IIRC) will give you a Fire stone every once in a while (he'll give you a call) and you can cheese it with the DST options so he'll keep calling you.
