There is no definitive answer and you'll get vehement arguments from both sides.
Personally, I believe Jiren is strong enough to defeat Beerus.

We know that Ultra Instinct is an angelic-level technique that Beerus hasn't even mastered (Whis explained this to Goku and Vegeta). So the fact that Goku perfected UI and Jiren was able to match that power and even dominate it for awhile, tells me he would fare well against Beerus.

It's bizarre, no doubt. Goku even acknowledges this toward the end of the Tournament. He says something like "Jiren really is amazing. He got this strong all by himself."

Referring of course to the fact that it took a Saiyan ritual for Goku to attain SSJ God, which of course paved the way for further evolutions such as SSJ Blue and then SSJ Blue Kaioken and then Ultra Instinct, all of which Jiren was able to match, totally on his own.

I think so. The destroyer god of their universe beat Beerus in an arm-wrestling match and Jiren was said to outclass him. In fact Top may have been groomed to be the next destroyer god because he too was a match for their universes current. And we see how much Jiren > Top.

Extra-terrestrials are just broken in DB. Even back in the 90s I thought it was stupid how Frieza didn't train for one lick of a second while the Z fighters busted their asses for years yet he was born powerful enough to pop planets. Now imagine if Frieza didn't just train for a few months to become G. Frieza, but trained his entire life.

Beerus vs. Jiren is interesting.

Beerus is stated canonically to be the most powerful of the God's of Destruction shown so far by a large margin.

While he hasn't mastered UI, that doesn't mean his base for strength cannot be enough for Jiren. Jiren is not using a power-up as he fights and is still an equal to UI. No reason to say Beerus isn't the same.

I always thought UI was an upgrade state to whatever the base of your power is. Of course Beerus would like to master it, but that doesn't mean Beerus base < Goku UI or Jiren.

I would argue Zamasu/Goku Black was worse in all areas, but honestly, when it comes to DBS, who the fuck cares?

Was UI ever confirmed to give a power buff? From my understanding, UI essentially puts Goku into autopilot where his body moves and fights on its own without him needing to think.

I mean Goku was unable really put a scratch on Jiren, even with his most powerful moves before he used it, so it makes no sense for it to not be a power buff. A lot of power level stuff in DBS makes no sense though.

It at least expends divine energy through attacks. Divine Energy is capable of hurting Beerus when Goku is in base whereas full power SSJ3 couldn't even scratch him.

At a certain point it stops being impressive. Once natural regular aliens more powerful than boo, a primordial force of evil, start showing up, I just stop caring. Like at least try to make it make sense

I always took UI to be a way for the user to be 100% efficient in technique while also being 100% on autopilot. I didn't think it really buffed their strength...but that's just me watching

Vegeta kinda alluded to this by being sparkly and bluer after getting buttmad at Goku for tapping into UI. He was going for raw power over Goku's finesse

I think the most impressive feature about Jiren is his glare alone. It's an offensive and defensive weapon, and only UI Goku was able to cancel it out while taking a beating.

Imagine pitting Jiren against other characters outside of the DB universe.

Did they say Frieza didn't train in regular Z? I thought they made that bs up in Super.

I do not recall them saying Frieza trained at all in Z. The Frieza arc is a long one though, and it has been quite a while since my last rewatch. At the least I don't think it's explicitly stated. The viewer had no reason to believe up until that point in Super where they mention it that he reached his absurd level of power without training, but it's one of those things that is assumed.

It's a transformation, same as every other issu form. If it looks, walks, and quacks like a duck....its a duck.

Also that spirit bomb during the ToP should have been the 3rd or 4th weakest in the entire series and shouldnt have had any hope of working considering the obvious strength difference between U7 and Jiren. Even if Vegeta gave his energy also.
