the longest ive been at a place is about 2-3 years. but that includes college and the last place i stayed at got too expensive.

i feel like with renting im always looking for another place because i feel like the landlord is evil and will go "SIKE! RENT IS NOW TRIPLE INCREASING EVERY MINUTE LMAOOO BYEEE"

When I was a renter I lived in the same building for 13 years (but 3 different apartments). The building management company was pretty cool, rent never went up more than $25 a year and when the economy crapped out around 2008 they returned everyone's security deposit.

Some states don't allow a landlord to increase the rent over a certain percentage of the current rent.

My wife and I lived at our first two places for 1 year each because I'd get a better job and move closer to it. Then our third place for about 3 years cause they didn't care how many dogs we had plus the location was very nice. Landlord decided to sell the 3 year place and that pushed us into buying a house.

7 years though soon to be moving to a new place in a month or two once the confirmation goes through.
went through 2 landlord changes.

got to keep my dog the whole time (not alot of places will rent to large breed dogs) only small or cat owners if allowed.

pro's: no shared hot water.
cons: way out of the way of supermarket (good for pokemon go because of distance).

The rental company rented it on behalf of the owner that lived out of state. The owner used to live there but moved and kept it as a rental. The owner decided to sell the rental to someone who I assume would end up moving in.

can he even do that? most laws say when you sell a rental, you sell the lease with the tenant. so the new owners are the new landlords. if they want to kick you out, they have to do that legally (proper notice, etc.)

but i understand, might not be worth the hassle.

No they waited until the lease was up before selling it. They gave us about 3 months notice that the owner would sell at the end of our lease. They even gave us first opportunity to buy the place but we weren't interested.

We had planned to only stay there one more year anyway before buying a place so it wasn't that big of a deal. Just pushed us into buying one sooner which turned out to be a great choice.
