Even better is that black people can fuck married white people

People never seem to bring up that little example of reverse racism

Sandford and Son though.

Actually those two or All in the Family, One Day at a Time, Good Times or even Maude could be cause for debate. Dude had a legendary run.

i mean, once upon a time they pretty much did, either because of laws or the social stigma against interracial couples. You see remnants of it today when Conservatives cry about a mixed couple in a commercial.

Not gonna argue the merits of any of those shows, but the Jeffersons is my favorite of his. I shoulda put a imho in my last post.

Edit: Maude was great, I loved how she was constantly tripping over herself to show how liberal she was. Like the time didn't want to hire a woman to be her houskeeper because she was white, but then changed her mind when she found out that she was from Puerto Rico.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm older and also felt it was how it had to be. Gotta love growing up with information obscured or altered.

I mostly blame my older relatives flipping out when a neighbor was a black man and white woman. They were so hush hush about it you literally thought they were over there sacrificing goats and all sorts of bad.... turns out it was just an interracial couple in the 90's. Also encountered other instances of 'oh no it's bad/wrong' but seeing as they lived through those days I can somewhat understand their view.

Even to this day if there's a commercial or ad with mixed couple, they vocally go off about it.

I mean it's not bad to say Jeffersons over Sanford and Son. Prime Sherman Hemsley and Prime Red Foxx. It's basically a coin flip.

Also the remake of One Day at a Time on Netflix is fantastic. It's very late 90's/early '00s sitcomy but does it well. Rita Moreno is phenomenal. I mean she's great in whatever she does but especially in this.

I've heard that in korea, women are socially shunned if they date men outside of their race.

I know that in the states, people are less upset if they see a white man with a black woman, as opposed to white woman with a black man. Black men don't seem to like it when black women date outside of race, either.

Maybe It's a male issue lol

Oh right, I should have probably clarified it, but forgot. I kinda clued in and figured out there was nothing wrong with it while at a young age. I only thought it had to be because of the surrounding relatives/people and for a bit thought they were even a different species and thus incompatible.

And yeah, if there's a commercial with a mixed couple then they're apparently pushing some sort of secret agenda... idk what that's about.

Honorable mention goes to that liquid plumber ad with a plumber's crack. They all grouped up and said it was them sexualising tv.

It's getting better apparently. I've had coworkers recently say how they date men outside their race and the families don't care too much. It's if marriage or pregnancies become an issue where the families get upset.

Fucked up but it's better than getting spit on and assaulted in public like I've heard happening.

I still bet there's a significant difference in reactions between a Korean woman dating/marrying a Black guy vs. the same woman dating/marrying a White guy.

When I was super young, I thought all black people were related because it was very common for black kids in my kindergarten class to say they were the cousin of some other kid in the lunch room.

This probably had way more to do with me going to school in the middle of nowhere than it did race.

I think it depends on location honestly. Where I am at people don't care. We have a good amount of inter-cultural families so it kinda makes the whole dating non-Koreans seem like less of a big deal. I think here people just tend to mind their own business too.

But here all the white people are Eastern European labor workers who don't make a lot so if a black guy came to the area for work, I think most people would assume he is specialized and makes a lot more money. So yeah a Korean girl dating a black guy would probably be better looked at by her family. >_>

Here in Koreatown, it used to be that you only saw Koreans dating Koreans. Parents were adamant about keeping the family within the Korean churches, and having Korean kids. This was about 15 years back from now. In about 2015 I noticed just a huge boom of Korean/Mexican and Korean/White families.

My last name was rather infamous at school because it's long and people have a hard time pronouncing it.

Nah, it was only like 7 letters but I heard like 4 or 5 different pronunciations from teachers over the years lol. Course they weren't near as bad as the one lady who pronounced my friend's last name as Alkaseltzer. His name was Altizer (All-ties-ur... or maybe it was Al, been a decade or two), where the fuck did she see the K or the S?
