People that talk about how they're able to work while dealing with classes and a social life with just 2-5 hours of sleep.

It's not bragging, and they WILL catch up on it. I've gone days on as little sleep as possible but when its days off it's a hard crash. The body will collect on the debts.

Its very common in my line of work for people to brag about sleep deprivation. I sincerely feel sorry for those people and believe deep down they hate getting such little sleep.

this is why I do it. If I ever bragged it was more self depreciating humor.

there are times when someones complaining about their sleep though and after hearing about it I just say youre lucky.

I feel bad for them. Typically they joke about it because it really negatively affects their lives

I'm really lucky to not have that problem

I had a coworker at Kroger who used to do this. She always said she only slept 2 or 3 hours - and was super bubbly about it - and was happy she had this "skill" because it let her be able to work another job.

A couple of months in, she ended up collapsing while working at the deli slicer. She had to get drug-tested and checked out because they thought she might have crashed on painkillers, but it was all because of her lack of sleep.
