I figure if the game itself is good enough, you don't have to lean on sex appeal. Maybe it's me, but Jesse Faden (Control) probably fits the bill presentation-wise. They don't make a big deal of a female protagonist, there's no male-gaze-look-at-the-sexy camera shots, and she just behaves like an "everywoman" getting thrown into a big mess. Ugly is generally for bad guys, jokes, and random side/town characters.
