I mean, I've had relatives who've had Alzheimers and dementia, and not that that makes me an expert or qualified to diagnose anything, but the stuff I'm seeing really doesn't look like comparable.

Guy's a mediocre public speaker with a mushmouth but his brain is hardly melting out of his ears.

And by all accounts he beat Bernie in that one on one debate so clearly he's still sharp enough lol

I've seen folks with severe mental decline, and it really doesn't look like that.

And I'm also wary of this sort of stuff because this is the same crap from four years ago.

We were told that Hillary was brain dead or was declining rapidly and she'd be incapacitated by her inauguration and how she would faint and was unable to string a thought together. It's the same shit as right now being pushed by the same people and you're falling in line behind it because you're still pissy Bernie lost.

I know a couple of great guys who are big Trump supporters. They're genuine and caring, extremely warm and friendly people. I don't really know why they support a guy who's basically their polar opposite, but one is a successful sales lead for a tech firm and the other owns his own marketing company, so I'm guessing it has to deal with taxes and stocks and shit. It's kind of emblematic of the whole shrinking middle class versus lower class dynamic.

If Biden had always been like this you could chalk it up to having a mushmouth or whatever. But he used to be much more coherent.

Outside of these random cut up clips we see it's pretty much as I remember him from 2008 or 2012.

And even if you were correct, speaking slowly and stumbling as you get older is not necessarily a sign that you'll be a gibbering mess in a year

I disagree with that assessment. While there was worry about Clinton's health, we didn't see so much of a particular focus on her cognitive health like we see with Biden.

I think you remember that election differently from most people. I remember one clip going around that made Clinton look like she was having a seizure or whatever, but apart from that she could actually string sentences together well. Clinton's health was far from her biggest issue as a candidate.

I mean her health in general was a big overblown concern but I definitely remember a bunch of shit regarding her mental state. The thing you mentioned, so called "odd" behavior in interviews, some stuff at the DNC, and a bunch of weird shit about how she had a "helper" who always traveled with her

Whether mental health is an issue or not, it's pretty bad that the oldest president ever elected to office was Trump in 2016, and Biden is four years older than him. Trump will be 74 if reelected, and Biden will be 78. Both will be in their 80s when they leave office in the next term.

At those ages, anything goes. Physical and mental health history up to that point go out the window simply because of age and the unpredictable nature of the human lifespan.

And this is all ignoring the very health and cognitive issues raised in this topic and others like it.

Like he's maybe slowed down a bit, but he's never been particularly good at spinning rhetoric. I think most people see the clips that float around and get shared repeatedly among right and leftist communities and just assume all these out of context clips are representative.

Dude doesn't seem that much worse than he's always been.

Even if people had a point about his decline, they use the dementia/Alzheimer's line deliberately because it pulls a harder emotional punch, because of how terrible and stigmatized those diseases are. And that's pretty fucking gross.

The only major third parties are Libertarian and Green, and both are at the farther ends of their respective spectrum in the US. The leading Lib candidate wants to do typical right Libertarian stuff like abolish the Fed, restore the gold standard, abolish public welfare in favor of private charity, etc. The Green guy, Hawkins, has a very eco friendly plan and good socialist ideals but blends it with super "Green Peace" ideals like abolishing nuclear power, and jumps straight into seizing the means of production for some things (without saying it'll be a revolution... tsk tsk, bad praxis)

In other words, a wingnut and a moonbat (even though the latter would maybe be a mildly fringe left winger in Europe while the former would be... uh, idk the equivalent, but it's goddamn rare)

yeah I'm pretty sick of people putting third parties on pedestals

they're shit and pump out shit candidates and that's why no one votes for them
