This should be fun. I remember when this first happened and watched the original video. It was nothing but speculation without any actual proof.

Apparently the lawsuit has been around for awhile but I just heard about it.

Because he refused to play against the other guy at TG? Then when the guy beat his long standing record, he sent in a VHS tape like a week or two later where he "reclaimed" the top spot? Never said they did or could prove it, just saying that this guy is more likely a cheater that he's not.

He posted a video and said "this is proof he cheated" The video had no actual proof. Just speculation.

isn't there proof? there's a graphical effect that occurs only on a rigged machine, and his footage has that graphical effect. unless you're talking about something else?

Tell that to everyone at the top of literally every leaderboard online ever.

This one kid on the Condemned leaderboards was a straight-up cheater on the Gears of War leaderboards. I noticed this guys name on both games and he was moving up ten or more spots every day on the Warzone leaderboards, which is way too many points to be playing normally. The leaderboards for Condemned consist of time played, melee kills and gun kills. So it makes sense a sucky player who heads simple leaderboards like that would have to cheat in Gears. I contacted him about it and he immediately went into screaming and swearing followed by blocking me. So I said Fuck this guy. and reported him. He ended up getting a one-month suspension from XBL because he was, in fact, cheating. He called in crying (literally) asking them to reverse it. Hilarious.

I know this because I called back in and told whoever answered the phone the story so he looked-up the guys account and told me what had happened. They had noted literally everything in the call including the kids crying. I dont think he was supposed to tell me, but oh well. Made my day. Fuck cheaters.

Thank you @zebatov, the one thing in video gaming I hate more than anything is cheaters. I'm in the middle of something similar about Gears POP!. I know it's a shitty little phone game but it's the principle. Not to mention the hack used on me deleted my account. It may have even damaged my phone, I'm not sure. At the very least it un-linked my phone from my devices on Microsoft and I can't seem to find a way to re-link it. I can't reveal his name because he's threatened me with a lawsuit for libel or whatever.

The thing about libel (and slander) is he has to prove what youre saying isnt true and did intentional (malicious) extensive and irreversible damage to his (online in this case) name and credibility. Theres no way all of that would happen and theres no way he could prove it. But better to be on the safe side, I guess.

Idk what you can do now. I know on Xbox 360 the only way for a report to be unique was to sign out and back in again. If you reported twice from the same log-in, it only counted the original report. So I had to sit there logging out and in for however long to make it abundantly clear to MS that they needed to investigate this guy. At the time, there was no way to set yourself to offline so I feel bad for the forty-something friends I had online that had to witness that haha.

See Zeb's response, but just to reiterate, there is a sizeable community who cares about arcade high scores. With arcade cabinet prices exploding in the last decade since King of Kong came out, it seems the classics are as popular as ever. I, myself, have a small collection cabs, and I got into it at the wrong time with the current prices. :)

Anyway, yeah, this news article made the rounds last week at KLOV (someone the other night spammed past Billy Mitchell topics from years ago and bumped them to the top, and then got a temporary ban from the moderators...people were, of course, either ticked or amused) and Donkey Kong Forum. Quite a few people still care about what Billy Mitchell does, did, or did not do.

Anyone that was in as a top player at Twin Galaxies back in the day was given free reign to cheat. Im sure this thread was brought on by the Apollo Legend video where the arc has finally hit the point where Billy is suing him (Billy is kinda lawsuit happy though, I remember that he sued Cartoon Network for making fun of him in one of their shows as well).

Another example of a player like this is Todd Rodgers. Look into him if youre interested. I dont necessarily like Apollo as a person (due to some of the people he associates himself with and will go to bat for), but damn if the videos he makes shitting on cheaters arent entertaining.
