Still sitting on a shit ton of stock and demand is nowhere near "normal" but nope, a few places are being allowed to reopen so gas has to go up 25%!

Agreed. Gas went from 55 to 79 basically overnight a week ago.

That's because Trump whined to Saudia Arabia and Russia so they upped the gas prices. Yet when gas wasn't super cheap under Obama he threw a bitch fit and said they should be super low.

It's also because gas stations scam you. Making up numbers here, but if they buy gas for 50 bucks a barrel and sell it at say a dollar a gallon when the price goes up and they buy it at 100 bucks a barrel and sell it for two dollars a gallon, they don't use up whatever stock they had from the 50 dollar barrels at a dollar, they sell that remaining amount at the two dollars. Its literally price gauging. We just haven't had any administration with the balls to actually give a fuck about consumers and do something about it.

I'm in Canada, but even after they all cut that deal to drop production rates the gas prices didn't change.

Literally the same day it was announced some places were being allowed to reopen (a week after the announcement) gas increased in price over 10% and then the day before the reopening it went up the remaining.

So the pandemic meant fewer people driving which led to not needing to fill up as often. So what does lowering prices artificially help? is the hope that people see it and rush over to fill up gas cans? Wouldn't that in turn affect them temporarily when they do raise them again?

I was hoping to see gas dip below 2 dollars here, but it plateau'd at 2.15 and has held steady since.

Market forces have little to do with gas pricing. It's [almost] all the cartel.
