Nah. It's pretty bad tbh. The gen 5 mons are notoriously shitty looking. And those are the only ones you can use for the main game. The story is obnoxiously linear, gatekeepers at every intersection preventing you from exploring further until you beat the town gym leader. And this is the gen where the difficulty just plummets. Most trainers, including gym leaders, have 1-2 pokemon. Just a lot of silly frustrations.

the music alone is worth it but i also enjoyed the trainers and some (not many but some) of the mons are awesome

Something mustve changed with black 2 then cause I just stared a new game there and difficulty was definitely a thing here.

The whole "no old pokemon until the ending" really gave me same sense of wonder as Red /Blue.

Black/white and it's sequels are the best games in the series. The sequels more so because they don't limit you to new pokemon only.

Pokemon games have never been difficult. My 6 year old nephew beat Sword and Shield in 3 days. The designs of the new mons are totally subjective. And every gen since 3 has been linear.
