It's titled 'Stop Spending Money'
And the first chapter is, do I need a need laptop? Do I need a Macbook for 3000? Do I want a Macbook for 3000?
No, no, yes.

I think I need to stop wasting money.

Prices for technology in Ireland are incredibly high, even before factoring in buying from stores. Both prices are the apple.com site

Ireland's tech usually costs at least 20% more compared to most places in Europe. The euro is fine.

My theory is we were considered almost 3rd world in terms of economic worth so tech was seen as super luxurious and expensive

We are doiing better than the UK in some ways but roughly up until the mid 1990s, we were more or less poor compared to first world places like UK and had a high unemployment rate in the mid teens then it slowly decreased until the previous global recession

So when things like PCs, Playstations and stuff became more common, they were considered luxury goods and were priced as such. Then in the mid 90s, we had a massive boom which dramatically increased the income of people and that kinda contributed to the idea that tech was worth keeping at high prices since they'll get paid

Right now, before the virus hit the world we were doing better than the UK in some aspects and because of the tax laws we'll still probaby be a tech hub for companies but the effects of the celtic tiger on tech prices are still here but sometimes getting better

Yep I remember when I realised there was nothing I actually needed to spend money on which would have much of an impact on my happiness.

... so I end up paying down mortgage.

I'm so good at swatting these feelings. I'll be like "I wanna buy a tv, look into them at the store" and everyone will tell me to do it, but Im eventually like "eh, my old ones fine for now" then not think about it again for half a year. Just gotta realize most this shit just becomes your new norm and balances itself back out anyway. Shit rarely keeps you happy very long. Diminishing returns like a mother fucker
