Yep! When this game was released, Yu-Gi-Oh! was still very new, so most of the gameplay mechanics in Forbidden Memories are unique to this game only and don't follow the standard formats.

Well jeez, today certainly is a day. 5 great songs for me here. Starting off with The Lease 333 sec no space, This song certainly does not sound like video game music, not that that's a bad thing. It's got some really cool jazzy stuff going on all around throughout most of the song, though I'm not so into the piano heavy instrumentation especially when it's more of an emotion piano segment. Meanwhile the UMA battle is my type of digitally instrumentation but feels slightly less "impressive" in the tune it gives, but only slightly. Enough to feel very close and equal between the two songs! I dunno some times I feel like my mood can shift on the UMA battle, but right now it's for it's for it. Aaa, I think I'm leaning towards UMA battle at the moment.

So the first match is close and this second match is also just as close oh no !! I'm super into the beat & synths this Ruined City Kish gal song starts out with . But the high strings are certainly a thing in this song, considering they are Off Key?? I remember seeing this song nominated by someone who I had never heard of & don't think I've seen vote in a single match, and when I got to this song I thought it was cool but when I heard those off tune strings I figured "Ah well I bet this won't get in with these" and clearly I was wrong! Still I don't like them but the rest of the song is super cool! An unfortunate blemish, danged high strings. SetoKaiba also has a cool soundscape instrumentation feel to it, but the beat/tempo feels weaker for me. But it's all around solid in what it does, no complaints! Cool set of different moods it manages to set throughout the short piece. Aaaa, I think I'm leaning more towards Kishgal right now, it's got the higher moments for me even if also the lower moments as well, but also what makes my difference in my mind is like the fast tune of the secondary backgroundish instrument throughout the song, like it's pretty chaoticish in where it goes while also being simple systematic in it's timing I don't know how to explain that right but it really Speaks To Me. Aaagh, 4 great songs means 2 good wildcard choices, except not really because then the good wildcard choice looks more like whichever song loses of the winners of the two and I don't like the idea of having to give up on the losers here immediately like that, no !

And, then we get to the toc match, which features my favorite song in the toc, and the only song I don't really care for too much today. Easy pick for me to vote for steelchambers2 here especially in comparison to the other two matches. Gonna be a huge shame if it doesn't win here!!! Hey the Seto Kaiba song like has that same weird bass synth sound that steelchambers does I think or at least something really similar, it's a pretty unique sound what a coincidence that the two songs showed up on the same day, right after one another at that !!

GOD this s so good the musicians so und like they are very happy to be playing this song j love happy music. the intro is such a good lead in to the rest of the track and actually technically the whole thing is an intro until 2:51 which is where u actually start playing from in the game The Least 100sec so idk if u can actually call this this and not 100sec bc it is not like that in the game but w/e. anyway i love the song "Karn Evil 9 2nd impression" ELP

MATCH 1

I like the soft intro of The Least 333sec. The remaining prog parts are cool too. Could do without that guitar solo at 3:50, though, which is not something you'll usually hear me say haha. I just think the guitar is too quiet and goes too much into dissonant notes that add onto to the somewhat dissonant chords to amplify that tone. Not really something I'd come back to listen to, but it's decent.

Lake Trio Battle is definitely not my Pokemon battle theme of choice, but its hard to deny that it's a pretty energetic song that gets me a little pumped up. I'm feeling The Least 333sec more today, but I think I still have to go for Lake Trio Battle here. Close, though.

MATCH 2

Ruined City Kishgal, while not amazing, sounds closer to what I'd want Falcom trance songs to sound like than what some actually do sound like. This one could be better because it's not really catchy and it doesn't stand out in any way to me. I also don't like the violin parts because something just sounds off to me in the background. Like it almost sounds like something's flat or off-key or something.

This was easier when deciding the favorites bracket, but today I had to relisten to these songs several times because Seto Kaiba's a lot better today than it was when I was filling out the bracket. Seto Kaiba does have the catchiness that I want from Ruined City Kishgal. Neat, kinda funky tune. The intro's really neat. Sounds like you're trekking through some ancient temple or something like that. There are a few cool parts aside from that intro like 0:37-0:39 and that key change right after. This is definitely the closest I've come to voting against my favorites bracket and I'm really tempted to do it, but there's also a nagging voice in my brain telling me that Ruined City Kishgal is slightly better, so I shouldn't vote for Seto Kaiba, so...I won't. I'll just use this to say that I'm fine with whatever song wins this match and I could go either way on it.

MATCH 3

I'm scared that this match is going to signal a repeat of VGMC13 where steelchambers2 beats all the songs I really like. Go away steelchambers2!

-I like the fairly hopeful-sounding, low-key opening to the least 333 sec-- it builds up with a promise of bigger things. and bigger things certainly arrive-- shifty meter and cool jazz chords and fast piano runs and instrument solos. I think the mid-track piano solo is neat-- starts with a calmer mood, then ratchets up its energy to introduce the electric guitar. 3:00 kinda reminds me of icicles. it mostly maintains a sort of major-key positive sound throughout, which gives the whole thing a sort of happy energy. very cool track.
-the opening of battle uxie etc. kinda feels like it's going to introduce some repeating layers, which could be neat, but the only thing that really sticks around is the slap bass while the lead synth plays a fairly simple phrygian scale melody. there are moments and interludes where this hints at interesting expansions of the main idea but I don't get the feeling it really makes the jump and evolves-- which, I guess, suits the pokemon it represents.

-kishgal establishes a pretty cool vibe from the outset, though on successive listens I notice it sits on it for a while. the first major shift happens with that violin of somewhat dubious providence-- is it slightly detuned on purpose, I wonder?-- which is a neat progression but not, I think, well-served by the violin. the accompanying synths that move left-to-right in that section are real cool, though. this is a fun, energetic track which keeps things just fresh enough to mask some of its more static aspects.
-seto kaiba comes in with a confident metal clang of a beat, like an imposing warrior clad in armor still warm from the heat of the forge-- and not, well, like an imposing warrior of the competitive card game table. it's funny-- there are some subtle things that happen in the background, and they're cool and all, but I'm really just here to jam to that blacksmith beat. seto kaiba will HAMMER YOU DOWN with his BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON
-heavily debated.

-one unusual thing about steelchambers2 in my listening experience-- while some tracks feel shorter than their playing time, steelchambers2 feels significantly longer than its 4:51.
-mixed feelings about both tracks.
