My trans friend literally tried to kill herself last year mainly due to transphobia, and she lives in literal California which is supposed to be a liberal state. If you are going to espouse language and rhetoric that puts my friend's life in danger I will literally come the fuck after you.

im still pretty in the closet irl but man moving to a friend group thats entirely full of gay and/or trans people was like the best thing i coulda done for myself. none of us are straight and most of us arent cis and its so nice to be able to like, talk to people that share some of my life experiences

My partner lived as a transman for some time, part of the reason they detransitioned was because of transphobic abuse. Now they identify as genderfluid and have a man's name. Even that attracts abuse.

No comprende. My friend is more than a decade younger than me, and he comes from a history of depression and abuse. Being trans is just the icing on the cake, and invites more abuse.

He folds at the slightest provocation and still has a lot of growing up to do in learning not to feel helpless - which I'm sure has been a conditioned response. I'm by no means a physically or emotionally "strong" man myself, but there's been a lack of positive and empathetic male figures in his life. Given that, I'm happy to lead and teach by example, and help him become not just a good man, but a good person.

I know life is hard when you're soft-spoken and not even five feet tall, and people try to use that to walk all over you, so yes, I've had to step in a few times. Never violently, but I've won wars of words and recovered stolen items.

Not trying to be a badass. I just look out for my friends, and I look out for the ones who are struggling even more.

(And yes, I do give him mild amounts of shit, and he returns the favor. Mostly about our height differences.)
