Mike Tyson was huge in the 80s, and if everything went right after February 1990 I'd say him, so Tyson had about 3-4 years of being a huge figure in sports. Jordan didn't take over in basketball till 91? and he lasted through most of the 90s on top minus the year or so missed trying to play baseball.
