There are doctors who need to treat patients with no mask because there aren't any available. But it's very important that Bob wears a mask before going to Lowe's to buy a PVC pipe.

Which is why everyone is releasing information on how to make your own masks. Home made masks look pretty cool, they are washable and it takes up quarantine time. Quit being lazy people, make your own. I do it just for fun now, I'll hand them out to neighbors eventually.

Also if you do buy a mask, be wary of the one with valves. The stuff that comes out of your mouth leaks completely though that which kind of defeats the purpose unless you are just think of yourself.

This too. Cuomo just today is saying that it's mandatory that hospitals have at least a 90 supply of PPEs and that he is making sure they have that. And not just a 90 supply, but a 90 day supply of what we needed at the peak.

Plus why not make your own mask? Heck even wrapping a tube sock or making a ninja mask with your tshirt is better than nothing. and if more people use masks then it means less spread which means less people in hosipitals.

Mask use is better than no mask

In Los Angeles, the requirement is something to the effect of "face covering" which allows the use of, non N-95 masks, bandanas, etc. It just has to cover nose and mouth. This eases demand for the type of masks first responders use. There is no need for the general public and medical professionals to be competing for the same masks.

You can buy them for $5 or so (washable) or make one yourself from a bandana as someone suggested above. I went the folded bandana route.
