whoops, yeah war of the visions.
i too play it. and don't recommend it >_>.

got lucky to have both Ramza and Orlandeu on the first day of the banner, am well on my way to LB5 both. spent nothing but a google survey buck i had expiring and i intend to keep it that way.

the game is suuuper grindy early on, less so eventually. the game looks the FFT part and makes you think 'hey, maybe they got something....' but you soon realize that Langrisser was a better SRPG. haven't played that one in a long time because it was legit time consuming. WOTV's story is also awful. really, really awful. like you may at first go "well this isn't so bad, the characters can be better written but i can deal with this" but there are multiple times i just had to put the game down because it was fucking AWFUL.

...but i still play it so i guess i'm a masochist on this.
when SINoALICE comes out in <2 months though i'm totally playing that.

Yeah, its scratching my gacha itch because of how little content Arknights releases, but its not a good TRPG.

Just saw an ad for this. Visual novel + Persona + Tactical RPG? Kinda sounds cool, gonna check if its on Switch

well, I think I appreciate a safe attempt over, I don't know, whatever Disgaea is trying to do. thanks for the info.

Oh yeah, to be clear it's way closer to them in terms of tone/storytelling style than Disgaea (which honestly isn't that much like FFT at all other than them both being strategy RPGs, whether we're talking writing or gameplay).

The game closest to FFT I've found has been God Wars: Future Past, which is basically FFT with preset characters taking place in medieval Japan. The main warrior job even has abilities that are the same as the Squire's Focus, Stone, and Rush, so I'm pretty sure they got a lot of their inspiration from it.

Story's not as good though, but it's serviceable.
