Hopefully New York does this too. Before all this started I was helping my cousin learn to drive, and he's a safer driver than most the people I know. He has anxiety like me, he's been ready to get his license for probably 6 months now but hasn't, and now with this it's going to be even longer.

But yeah when you think about how many people are irresponsible, this could end badly.

Bad drivers teaching kids how to drive? Sounds legit.

Atlanta has some of the worst drivers and traffic. Its why I got the hell out of there.

Strange how cities with an actually useful mass-transit system still have godawful traffic. Possibly even worse traffic.

The problem with Atlantas mass transit is that it falls just short of really being useful since it doesnt go to areas where it would be the most useful.

If Marta extended to the northern suburbs, most citizens have to commute into the city for work, then itd significantly help with the traffic problem. But because of NIMBYism and a fear of crime coming up from the southern part of the city, they nixed expansion and now theyre stuck with s*** traffic.

Marta doesn't and can't expand because of nimbys. It was hard as fuck just finding a place I could live that had reasonable cell phone reception.

Theres very little to zero reason for people with their own transportation methods to be in favor of a tax increase MARTA expansion bill for a transit system the majority living here will never ever use.
This is why mass transit is almost always a boondoggle. It desperately needs the very people who don't need mass transit.

How could it not be worth an increase in taxes to get a large percentage of people off the road? The people who live in that area can 100% afford it.

A large portion of Atlantans live in the suburbs and work in the city. 400 is a joke, 285 is always gridlocked. I commuted from Exit 7 to exit 5 every morning and it easily took 30-45 minutes to get to work when it should only take about 10 maybe 15 minutes. All of these things could have been avoided if they just expanded Marta when they should have

Reducing congestion on the toll road, yes, at the expense of any other ambiguously-parallel roads nearby.
Also it's a tax on something you've already paid taxes for.

To be fair the road test is a load of BS.

- overly strict instructors/judges
- the test is often all about your parallel parking ability when many people have no need to ever parallel park, especially not when they are first learning to drive.

You only have to know how to parallel park if you live in a city and have to park alongside the road with cars surrounding you often. Also with cars having backup cameras now parallel park skills are becoming less and less necessary tbh.
