Pretty bad.

I think I've read it went through some development hell and it shows, especially in the second half of the game.

The story was super bland. There was pretty much no character development, especially when it came to the antagonists. It was also just a really vague story that didn't make a lot of sense, and I just didn't really feel invested in in the slightest.

I will admit, I'm in the camp that misses turn based ff games, but combat was probably the best part of the game. My biggest complaint is that it was basically impossible to get a game over. Since it's not turn based the opportunity cost of using healing items is completly lost. And even if you do lose all of your health you can still just revive yourself with a pheonix down........has anyone ever actually died in this game?

Kind of a shame, i think there was a lot of potential. The game is stunning, the protagonists were likable enough.
I kind of enjoyed the first part of the game, just wish the side quest were less mmo grindy fetch quests bs.

I found some of the bosses like Tiamat to come out of nowhere with difficulty spikes, but yeah, in the main story, there's no real difficult boss or area.
It's when you start doing elite hunts and going to optional places that fuck you up.

You summed it up pretty well. I didn't mind the battle system, but everything else was just kind of...eh. The story wasn't interesting, the side quests were mostly just the Hunts, and the License Board was too general and basic with no individuality for the characters (even though Zodiac Age fixed that from what I've read).

I put in 90 hours and got to the dungeon before last before I finally accepted it wasn't going to get better.

This. You sound off TC considering there is a downside to using items in FF XII and you can't revive yourself with items if you fall in battle in FF XII. That is FF XV. You sure you aren't talking about FFXV?

The Judge Bergan monologue was legit one of the best parts of the whole game. So awesome and well done with the music in the background and just everything.
