Is this real? have they been using the wrong treatment methods and refusing to try other methods? Is it true if we find ourselves in that situation that we should go for the less invasive treatment?

my girlfriends dad is on a ventilator and the doctor in charge of him keeps wanting to let him die. a few days ago he was "dying" and there was "nothing" he could do. my gf pleaded and the doctor said he'll try flipping him over onto his stomach. he's still stable today and then his kidneys started failing. they brought in a kidney doctor and he said his kidneys are still fine

is he a COVID 19 case? Could it be that the ventilators could possibly be the wrong treatment of choice from the beginning and possibly causing some avoidable deaths? The disease has only been known for a few months and the influx and rush for treatment was so fast. Maybe people really just dont know how to treat it at this point.

This is a new virus. Of course some of the treatments we are doing could be causing harm, the only treatments we have at our disposal is done to treat the symptoms and we don't know how effective they really are especially when you reach the level of lower level lung problems. Apparently some of what we know works for everything else may not actually work with Covid-19 and sadly we have to learn on the fly. That said, I won't trust anyone claiming they are intentionally trying to kill people or that they are willfully doing things that cause harm, the issue is we just don't actually know what works and there are no clear answers as to what we may be doing wrong. This is something every country is going through.

That's not what is happening.

If they want to put you on a ventilator you are already on the brink of death with covid19. Unfortunately it's really not an effective treatment but it's all we have until theres a better treatment. It's not a grand conspiracy or anything.

Well she said there are some nurses who werent trained properly with them yet or it was their first time using it and are basically being told to figure it out. Like I get it, even if you learned about that stuff in university its different to actually having to use it on a real patient and its a good idea to be properly trained or have your memory refreshed on how to do a nursing procedure if you dont use it that often.

She even said some nurses just quickly throw it on and peek from outside the rooms because they too are worried about contracting coronavirus.

So you want us to leave the patients struggling to breathe with O2 Saturation in the 40s-50s?

Hypoxia like that can lead to cardiac arrest and if I was able to achieve ROSC on the patient, his life will never be the same.

Ventilators and intubation is our only option at that point to give the patient a fighting chance for extubation once the lungs recover. We also follow a protocol (called ARDSnet, look it up) to prevent barotrauma for intubated patients.

I am so fucking sick of these stupid ass conspiracy theories on how we are hiding shit. We have no evidence on how to manage COVID19 patients and all of our guidelines are based on shitty studies and our past knowledge about ARDS. I fucking hate when people spread garbage like this.
