Dimitri and Edelgard are step siblings?

How did this never come up in the Black Eagle route?

I'm pretty sure Edelgard remembers that part of her life enough to be aware of it, but she doesn't actually remember that it was Dimitri specifically until reminded of it by him

This is a real mindfuck to me. When Edelgard cut him down in Crimson Flower there was no hint of any such familial relationship.

Also, now I must go out and find the step sibling porn of this game.

Everything about that route feels like it was rushed to get it in before launch

If you play the DLC, there's a base conversation where Edel seems to vaguely recognize Dimitri, but only a little bit. It seems clear that that part of her life is hazy.

I don't plan to get the DLC until I finish all four base game routes. Still in White Clouds of Blue Lions, my second playthrough, so there is a whiles to go yet.

It's not really a spoiler, as it's just some dialogue between the two if you talk to them in your base between chapters. It doesn't spoil anything from the DLC or any other routes, and it goes along with this topic, but I spoiler tagged it just in case.

Edit: Also, if you're thinking of getting the DLC, I'd do it before a route. It's its own side story, and beating it enhances your playthroughs of other routes. You get another decently large area in the monastery, four new characters that you can recruit really early on in any route, and a number of bells and whistles. I think the DLC is best done before starting a new route, and it's best to run routes after doing it since you get some stuff in the main game. In particular, you'll want to do at least one route after the DLC route, since you can't get supports for Yuri/Balthus/Constance/Hapi in the DLC, and you can only do those (and thus learn more about them) in the main game. They're all great characters, and their supports are amazing.

DLC is part of a route, not an entire.

I'm planning to play this game for years to come. I just wanna do clean playthroughs of all routes before I add a bunch of pacing and balance breaking stuff to my game.
